First American Home Warranty Company is a RIP OFF!! You PAY good money to have a home warranty in place so that when something goes wrong in the home it will be fixed and covered by the warranty.

I have had two separate incidents with this company sending technicians out to look at something that needed repairs and the technician claims its a maintance issue so there for the home warranty will not cover it.

First incident was with my air conditioning unit leaking, leaving half of my kitchen in a pool of water. They sent a technician out and they claim my intake filter is dirty and that is why my A/C unit is leaking. So I was out the $50.00 service call and had to replace my filter.

Due to it being the end of summer we did not use our A/C until next summer and found that it still leaked and I now had secondary damage to the water leak, which they do not cover, and I had to have it repaired otherwise they would not send a technician out because there was now a mold issue, even though if their first technician would have looked into the A/C unit and found that there was truly a problem we probably would not have had such extensive secondary damage. Another $50.00 service call and they finally fixed the leak!

My most recent issue is my dryer not heating up any more. Another $50.00 service call and the technician comes out and states my heating element is out and that its due to lint so it is ONCE again a maintance issue and not covered. So I then hire someone to clean the vent at my expense of $95.00 and purchase a new dryer another $500.00 and the company that is cleaning the vent states there is a break in the vent which leads to the outside and that its somewhere in the wall which would require them to tear the ceiling out of my kitchen and be without the use of my kitchen for a week or more to find and then repair looking at approximately $600.00 or more to repair.

So I call First American and customer service was terrible I could not even get a supervisor on the line or to call me back after leaving messages and the person I talk to not a supervisor but a "Lead" tells me that they don't cover the duct work that would require my dryer to work properly.

SO what's the point in having a home warranty when they are always finding ways not to cover anything?
