Bought a pre-owned AWD truck from a dealership, 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser, Manual. Bought the extra bumper to bumper warranty, as it's a pre-owned vehicle. Was told that this service warranty is 100% bumper to bumper, including the transfer case and the transmission. Well low and behold, 6 months later, and a bad throw out bearing that caused my manual transmission to fail, and come to find out, this is not covered by the warranty, only AUTOMATIC transmissions are covered. What a crock of turds. I am now out 2500 dollars for a full replacement (fly wheel, clutch, front synchro, rear synchro, shift fork, pilot bearing, throw out bearing, and a bell housing, i.e. the entire clutch assembly). Which according to the "vague" offering from first extended service corporation, this all should be covered, but you see, they have an "exclusion" policy that they don't let you read, within that exclusion policy it more or less states that they aren't on the hook for anything transmission related.

Well folks, the last time that I checked, the transmission sits between the front and the rear bumper.  This is FRAUD if I have ever had to deal with it before.   I am left calling the service manager where I currently have the vehicle and yelling at the folks from first extended service corporation for not obliging by the terms and conditions that I had accepted in good faith at the point of purchasing the vehicle.  After explaining my position (less than 6 months in the vehicle and the entire transmission went out in it), then they tell me about "high wear and tear parts," and how some of those aren't covered.  You fools, this is EXACTLY why I purchased an extended warranty, for THESE types of situations.

Now I'm going to have to pay for this out of pocket and max out my credit cards, for a worthless warranty that they don't actually cover.  Do yourself a favor if you are looking at a pre-owned, certified vehicle, NEVER take the extended warranty unless it is from the actual dealer, never go down the route of a 3rd party.  They are useless.  This is the 2nd time this is happened to me.  I'm just so tired and frustrated about this whole mess.  Why else do you purchase an extended bumper to bumper warranty where the 2nd line item is the ACTUAL clause for the transmission, when they have a "sub clause" to that line item that specifies that they don't actually cover the costs of the transmission, whether it is a manual or an automatic.  Quite frankly, I feel lucky that I have a manual, as the associative costs would be more in the ball park of 5-6 thousand dollars, versus 2500 dollars.
