Florida Center of Corporations SCAM targeting new businesses - DO NOT pay these thieves! Davie Florida

I recently formed a new business with the State of Florida - and paid for the desired certifications online...

a few days later I received a letter from the Florida Center of Corporations and opened it.

In it was a '2013 CERTIFICATE OF STATUS REQUEST FORM' with a return envelope.

It listed my correct business name and date of filing.

The letter begins: "Thank you for registering your business with thte state of Florida.  You have one step left to receive your Florida certified certificate of status."

It goes on to say:  "...Please complete the below stub and mail back to the corporations center with your payment of 56.47 to complete the request for your 2013 certificate of status..."

Any required certifications are already paid up-front when filing your business name, so I knew this was wrong and was very likely a scam.  I did a simple internet search and landed on the RipoffReport. Apparently many others noticed this problem as well.  Unfortunately, I'd bet that many people have paid these crooks.
