Con artists! If you don’t continue to lease and turn in a vehicle they will take you for every penny they can get. I was hit with a $1,000 service fee, which is obviously nothing more than ridiculous. I purchased lease protection that added over $800 to my overall lease cost. This was supposed to cover any and all repairs once turned in. Only when I contested the figure did the associate leave, speak with someone in the back, then return and say oh yeah, your tires are covered so that takes off $300. So if I had not contested they would have charged an extra $300. Not to mention they are trying to charge me 700 for an oil change.
If all of this is not bad enough they also want an additional $5,000 for over mileage. They say if I lease a new vehicle they can forgive this completely but if not, it’s out of their hands. If they have the ability to forgive in one instance, they could work with me on the other. But the associate would not budge. I was not late on a single payment in 3 years and the car itself is in beautiful condition. I took very good care of my lease car and they won’t work with me on any of these ridiculous charges. The worst customer service I have received period!! Not to mention their absolute incompetence in the service department. I had tires changed and they scratched several of my wheels. I had a graphic added to the roof and they stepped all over the plastic door jam without any protection. I received my car with dirt all over the plastic. I was lucky they didn’t scratch it.
I expect from a premium company like Mini Cooper a certain amount of professionalism and customer courtesy. This dealership lacks both. I will never lease from them again and likely will never lease from Mini Cooper. Thanks for turning away a loyal customer!!

- Sure they COULD, but they are under no obligation to do so. If you eventually get then to "work with you" then great...but if they don't it is not a RipOff.
YOU signed a lease agreement that gave you a certain amount of miles and a specific charge if you exceed those. It also specified charges you could be assessed when you turned in your vehicle. If you disagreed with these fees the time to bring it up was BEFORE you signed the lease, not when you were going to turn it in.
You will actually find most dealers are very forgiving on the lease return fees if you sign up with a new lease with them. But if you are just there to turn it in they will hold you very strictly to the letter of the lease agreement. Not a RipOff..it's what you agreed to.
If they are doing anything outside of what the lease agreement(or your lease protection) allows then you have a valid complaint. But it seems that the only thing that they had incorrect was the tires..which was adjusted. If they ONLY did an oil change and it was $700 then again you probably have a valid complaint, But again did you do all of your maintence as required and showed them proof? As generally those agreements only are valid if you properly maintain the car to their specs.
Oh and how you think your perfect payment history should earn you some "gold stars". That is what you were SUPPOSED to do. It is not like you went above and beyond and now they owe you.
Thanks for turning away a loyal customer!!
- What loyalty? You were turning in your lease and had no intention of getting a new one with them. Or let me guess you would have returned to them at some point in the future..possibly..maybe..Right?
Good Luck...
