I went to Fortis College seeking a career change and was really interested in the x-ray program. I studied hard while working 2 jobs. The instructors in the beginning were great, very knowledgeable and made class interesting to go to.

But then about halfway through.... Our instructors were terminated and replaced. They brought in people that had the in the field training but had no business in the classroom. I finished the classes with a 3.81 GPA. I did will on my externship and got hired.

I then tried to go take my board exam to get my limited scope operator passed the Core portion but failed the rest (the Core is the part were the first set of instructors taught). All the other parts are were taught by the new teachers. I now have taken the test again and failed for a second time.

Fortis has now stopped offering the X-ray program at the Salt Lake City campus. I am not the only one who has had this happen to them.... out of a class of 7 only one has actually passed the state exam.

AUTHOR: Fortis College - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, January 24, 2013

I am the Campus President of Fortis College Salt Lake City.  We believe in the integrity and quality of our programs.  I regret the negative perception of this individual towards our school and invite them to contact me to discuss their experience.  If they are uncomfortable speaking with me they are welcome to follow the grievance procedures outlined in our school catalog which provides contact information with someone at our corporate office to discuss the matter.  As a point of clarification, we have not cancelled the X-ray program but we have implemented new courses and requirements.  We have modified this program to meet the changing needs of the industry and our community.  A student who has previously graduated may audit any of the new courses and may contact the school for help in preparing for the exam. We offer free tutoring and similar mock ARRT exams.  If a student attends these review sessions and tutoring Fortis College will pay for them to take the ARRT exam again.
