My wife called me today to report that her checking account was overdrawn and she was hungry because Fortune Builders, a company we have never called or purchased anything from debited her checking account through her debit card for $115.00.
She has already called the bank and they are working hard to get the charges reversed. When calling Fortune Builder (866)679-8659, she was informed that she needed a letter from the bank stating that they had debited the money in error. She then needed to fax it to them and it would take 7-10 business days to get her money back.
Meanwhile, no doubt checks will bounce and she(and her husband) are very upset that this happened. It could be that somewhat got a hold of her debit card number, but this is ridiculous! I hope this is resolved quickly. If not further action will be taken. There are a number of reports on this site that sound similar to ours.
