The so called free credit report is NOT free

The deceive you by asking you questions for security purposes, for your safety and to ensure you are the one asking for the credit report -- and then they use that information to automatically bill you and subscribe you into a program (recurring monthly fees_) until YOU take the time to call and cancel.

Everything is done by deceitful means, and then when you can -- Their excuse is that there is a disclosure somewhere in their website

How to request credit

AUTHOR: Mosce - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 21, 2009

I won't accuse you of being unable to read or make comments like the previous folks.

I have personal experience with this. My husband signed us both up for this without my knowledge. I called to cancel and the first time I was unsuccessful in getting credit back. I searched the BBB site and it clearly lists how many people have received a partial, full or no refund. Also I came across a site
http://www.cohort-eve.org/e107/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?261.last

Armed with this information I was able to get what I requested.

Good Luck.

Somewhere...

Yea I guess you could say it was "somewhere" on their site. Like right on the FIRST PAGE.

ConsumerInfo.com, Inc. and Freecreditreport.com are not affiliated with the annual free credit report program. Check your Report
See who's been checking your credit. Look for potential inaccuracies and unauthorized activity.Guard your Identity
We'll closely monitor your Experian Equifax and TransUnion Credit Reports every day.Know your ScoreTM
Higher scores usually mean lower interest rates on new loans, which could save you money.

Monitoring with Experian begins within 48 hours of enrollment in your free trial. Monitoring with Equifax and TransUnion takes approximately 4 days to begin, though in some cases cannot be initiated during your trial period. You may cancel your trial membership any time within 9 days of enrollment without charge.
--------------------------------------

Of course I do like how they can't seem to get the days right, because they can't seem to decide if it is 7 or 9 days you have for your trial. But the disclosure is there. It is also on the same page where you enter your credit card information.

Note that the only free site is annualcreditreport.com and they do also ask verification questions, but unless you purchase a credit score you will not be asked for any credit card information.
