My Frigidaire freezer that I had for four years stopped cooling in November 2005. The Sears repairman came to examine the freezer and in conjunction with the Frigidaire service center, deemed it to be unrepairable. The service center representative (in a foreign country and hard to understand) offered a 30% rebate if I purchased another Frigidaire freezer within 30 days. To obtain the rebate, I had to submit the new freezer sales slip, serial tag from the defective freezer, new product warranty card, and the completed terms of agreement with new serial and model numbers written in. I submitted the required paperwork including original serial tag and mailed it to the Augusta rebate center in Augusta, Georgia within the required timeframe.

The green certified card was returned indicating that the rebate center received my packet. Much to my dismay, I received a letter three weeks later advising me that they received only the terms of agreement form and that I would need to remit the remaining documentation. After spending three hours with customer service trying to convince them that I retained all copies (including the serial tag), I was told that I would have to approach HHGregg and get a signed affidavit that they did indeed hauled off the defective freezer. They refused to allow me to speak to the receiving clerk that received the packet.

I'm almost convinced that they are using a delay tactic in processing my promised rebate of US$120. What aggravates me even more is that I offered to fax or mail a duplicate set of copies to them but they refuse to honor the copies that fulfill the agreement and want an affidavit from HHGregg that they hauled away the freezer. How many times does one have to remit copies before Electrolux will honor their end of the agreement. I regret now purchasing another Frigidaire freezer just for the sake of spending hours attempting to get their service center to honor their rebate agreement. Even though their customer service is cordial, I feel sorry that they have to be the gatekeepers just because upper management doesn't want to be bothered by the customer.
