I am a VICTIM of the GAME CRAZY store credit RIP OFF. I traded a few didderent game systems and video games for store credit. I had the sum of around $300, in store credit which I was never able to use. On July 3rd 2010 I went to Game Crazy to redeem my store credit. But the store was CLOSED and they had a paper on the window directing me to there new location. Once I arrived to the new location it was CLOSED to. The window had a flyer on it explaining what was going on with the GAME GRAZY STORES. The flyer had a 1 877 244 6684 number, and it stated call this number to redeem your store credit in the fourm of a gift card. I instantly called the number and on the other end I got a hold of some "CUSTOMER NO SERVICE" who instructed me to call back in a week because they need to check my information. I called right back to receive some more "CUSTOMER NO SERVICE" which then let me know that my store credit would not be honored I asked could I talk to someone else or was there another number I could call? I was told "NO" they were the only people I could contact. I blatintley said "SO BASICALLY YOU GUYS JUST ROBBED ME", "I GAVE YOU MY GAMES & SYSTEMS & I RECEIVED NOTHING !!" CUSTOMER NO SERVICE blatintley said to me " WELL IF THATS HOW YOU FEEL, THERES NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT THAT". Basically I was ROBBED without a gun. I JUST WANT WHATS OWED TO ME!!!!!  If anyone could help I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT....

Not customer service's fault.

It was first announced that the entire company was closing at the beginning of May. I received e-mails from them in May stating this, and continued to receive them throughout June and July. You had two months to go to the store and use your credit between the time closings were announced and the time you went.

Frankly, I doubt there's anything you can do at this point. As far as I know, ALL Gamecrazy/Hollywood Video/Movie Gallery stores are closed as of the end of July. You MIGHT be able to get a gift card that could be used to shop from moviegallery.com, but there are no more brick & mortar stores. You could try to sue them, but even if you won, you would join the long list of creditors the company is already indebted to. And believe me, you'd be near the bottom of the list. I'm sorry for your situation, I know it sucks, but these are the kinds of things that happen when companies go out of business. It sucks even worse for the thousands of employees who are now jobless.

My only suggestion would be to call the customer service line again and be civil. Ask them what your options are, and understand that the person you're speaking to is probably no more pleased with the company than you are - after all, they're about to be out of a job. That person has NO control over store closings, the status of your store credit, etc. They are just trying to get a paycheck as long as possible before joining the ever-growing ranks of America's unemployed.

The lesson to be learned here? If you're going to trade in merchandise for store credit to an unstable company (read: hundreds of store closings in 2009), use your credit the same day. The local Gamecrazy here had NO notice that they were going to be closing when they shut their doors in 2009. The employees came in to work on a Friday and were told it would be their final business day.
