Gateway Energy Company failed to honor 12 month contract. Company lures customers with 5-10% saving on gas prices over utility company then increases rates >100% takes 2 months to cancel services Montebello New York

The company will offer fixed gas rates 5-10% below your utility company rates.  One month before the rate is supposed to expire (11 months into a 12 month contract) they will raise the rate 100-150% above the utility company rate.  Takes 2-3 months to switch back to local utility.  Gateway ends up costing you 3-4 times more while you are waiting to switch than what you save during the entire 11 months that they honor the fixed rate.  It is a total scam.  I had the same experience with Champion for electric.  Stay away from all third party suppliers.  "Customer choice" was the worst thing our elected representatives ever "did for us."
