Genova Diagnostics Refuses to Refund Overpayment Asheville North Carolina

My physician ordered two laboratory tests from Genova Diagnostics. I pre-paid my doctor's agreed to "Easy Pay" amount for the two laboratory orders of $189 each.  One month later I received two yellow-colored invoices: $1,328.06 balance due on one and $827.16 balance due invoice on the other. Both invoices clearly state: "BALANCE DUE NOW." Although surprised by the balances due, I respectfully paid them in full online via a credit card within a month of receipt. At my next doctor's visit, I was informed that I wasn't supposed to pay the invoices -- that the "Easy Pay" amount was all that was due and I should have ignored the "yellow" invoices.

When asked, the Genova sales rep for this practice said "Oh, she must have paid the yellow invoices, she wasn't supposed to. Oh, well. She'll have to call Genova." He basically blew me off. After a 1-1/2 hour phone call (and being put on hold 5 times) to Genova billing, they offered me only 50% of the overpayment -- saying that's their refund policy. That's 100% my hard-earned money! Then they tell me that it'll take 30-45 days to refund the unfair 50% to my credit card. This is deceptive. Why would they mail invoices demanding payment when payment is not due, collect my money, and then only offer to give half of it back? DECEPTIVE AND UNETHICAL. Praying on sick people who are looking to find diagnostic help in their laboratory testing. Would love to join a clas action to stop this decptive business.
