Like others I fell victim to Gerld Marks owner of German Auto aka Stuttgart Auto Werks aka motormeister inc aka Jerry's VW heaven. He also goes by  Jerry. I found him on craigslist and he as 5 different ads posted.  After speaking with him he qutoed me 742.72 to rebuild my 1600 duel port motor. I removed the motor and drove 1 hr both ways to drop it off. He told me the best way to commuicate is through text, so i gave him 100.00 deposit to start. It would take hours and sometime a day to get a reply. When I asked him the status, he tells me my case is bad and my heads are cracked and that I need a new or good used case. I make the drive down again to see how bad the case is and i must say it was, but the heads he did not show me. When I asked what the price will be now he told me $1500.00-$ 2200.00. I told him that was to much for me and would cut my loss and stop the repair. I was hoping would find a used engine. He tells me that there is 200.00 cancellation fee on top of the $100.00 i gave him. What!!! when I told him I did not sign anything agreeing to a cancellation fee, he tells me that its not a cancellaion fee its for labor, which again I did not agree to or sign. $300.00 to disassemble a 1600 vw motor is not justifiable. He refuses to give my disassembled motor unless i give him the 200.00 totaling $300.00. I forgot to mention he text me that my motor parts can go for 150.00 and yet he wants 300.00 total because I no longer want to go through with the repair!!! I was shocked to findout about his past. One thing is for sure he has changed. Stay away! I will see him in small claims court.

German Auto Los Alamitos "Jerrys Vdub Heaven"

I must support the gentlemen who made the previous report about Jerry. The guy is a wily. cunning, sly salesman, A con artist, and a rapist on your savings.

I had a super beetle with a smaller than stock engine. I wanted to upgrade and made it clear from the beginning that I wanted to do so. I found this guy through craigslist and he had posted "specials" for different rebuilds"-flat rates. However, when I sat down to talk, th first total he gave me was about 1200. I thought that was the total to upgrade. But he had to tear it apart first. He said he would email me later the results. He never did until I went 2 weeks later.

Suddenly the prices were +2000. It was way out of my budget. I should mention I had given a $200 deposit. When I went to cancel, I owed $200 more. How?? Literally all that was done, was the motor was taken apart. $400 for VW bug engine teardown is unreal. Apparently $400 in labor?? A monstrous ripoff. He acted all offended when I called it on him. I'm sure he was probably smirking inside.

He said the manual states 15 hours for a rebuild. That was his justifications for the charge on labor. The manual doesn't say that and we both know it wold not take him as long as he claims.

I tried to argue but it was no use. He had all the cards and the paper work said $200 for disassembly and reassembly of external parts and $600 for the motor; total $800, so halve that since he just disassembled. I'm sure most of the labor would be reassembling and not disassemblying and you can't charge evenly for both. Regardless the amount was insane. I went to an older VW mechanic near my house and I asked how much for a teardown,  without telling him anything else about my situation. He said tops would MAYBE be $100! Jerry is such a ripoff!

Watch out for this man. He will be reel you in with a low price he posted on his "specials" on craigslist. Dude, give me a break. Those "summer specials" have been up there for at least a year. They're not really specials. He will reel you in with the low flat price and add and add and scare you and you back out and he rips you off.

When I called him on not responding to my email, he said I should have texted him. "It gets to me right away". Well yeah, but It would be days before he responded. I agree with many of the things the previous gentlemen, owner of the bus, said. I am considering a small claims court because to charge $400 for a tops $100 job, is a crime against common courtesy and honesty and just dirty dealing.

There is just a lot of funky things with this guy; there is a 10 week trun around time. 10 weeks to rebuild an engine? a vw bug enine? Thats like working on the engine a little over an hour for every week. I highly suggests to avoid him at all costs as you will pay much more than the initial. Try Steve's Machine Shop in Azuza. Great, honest, elderly gentlemen, doing the job for a little more than half of what Jerry was charging and having 42 years of experience to back him up.
