Just finished my "screening" through Gigats for two jobs at Costco.    Smantha Frank interviewed me and asked me redundant questions that anyone can fill out on a job site board about job titles, salary range, benefits ect.  Then the conversation changed to education background. When I mentioned I had a bachelor's degree, she began to tell how important it was to get a master's degree and hinted that I should investigate furthering my education.   When I told her that I wasn't  interested in it, she asked why.   I told her the cost of higher education is outrageous, and that most of the schools who pay to advertise on Monster, CareerBuilder, etc, are all for-profit schools simply trying to generate l business.   You know how it is when you apply on these sites, and a promo -page pops up asking if you want to go back to school - that's exactly what Gigats is, but with real people talking to you on the phone trying to hook you in.

I told her again that I wasn't interested, and that if I declined to discuss educational opportunities will it prevent my application from moving forward.  She said "no", but that she would send me job opporutnities regulalry and that they would garuntee I will be hired at any of the jobs they send within 30 days.   Let's see how that goes.

She also asked my age... I declined and she asked me when I graduated high school and college.  Again... don't answer this as these are also ways employers can screen older/expereinced workers from the job pool.

Then she passed me along to "Educational Advisor", and I politley told her that I was not interested nor had any intension to go back to school.  I was simply looking to get back to work.  And with that, our conversation was finished.

But here is the tell-tale sign about Gigats... you can't get past their first page unless you click the following box that reads:

"By checking this box I agree to be called about educational opportunities by Liquid Education at the phone number provided above, including my wireless number if provided and using an automated telephone dialing system."

This is Gigats bread and butter... they are front and just a new way to try to sell people into going back to school. Not that education is a bad thing.  But there are many Americans like myself who pocess a wealth of experience, and have been hurt by this ecomony so bad, that getting another degree is a) unaffordable, and b) won't pay the bills.

If you see a job on Gigats... just bypass them and go to that company's website and apply there - you'll avoid wasting your time.
