Global Career Management (GCM) did nothing as promised. The promises included an accelerated job hunt using their "tools," coaching, and resume and cover letter production.

None of this happened. Absolutely nothing.

The tools were out-of-date and not geared to the current market place, job hunting arena. The coaching was not too good. I am an agressive, assertive sort and found my counselor/coach unable to answer my probing and pleas for solid advice. I discovered later she was essentially a resume writer who worked with a formula outlined by the company. The resume was pathetic-it looked busy, out-of-focus, and not at all reflective of my skills or personality. GCM sent this to an unknown number of headhunters, and a few employers. Nothing happened, zero response. Absolutely zero.

I eventually moved to another counselor, but he quit within days. I got transferred to the president, Mark Renn, who did not like me at all. He told me I had a bad attitude. I figured, screw you buddy, I'm paying, live with my atttitude-after all I needed work, not his petty criticisms. He dumped me to another counselor. This started in 2006 and I did not go back to work until spring, of 2008. Ouch.

The thousands I paid were not wasted, they were in my opinion embezzled. They promised assistance, but I got bogus support, crappy resumes (I had mine re-done by an independent lady and I went to work 2 weeks later).

The question is, did I ever get "value" for my investment in terms of solid advice? Not a lick. I still talk to my last counselor because I like her, but she's really a crook too. I have a fondness for those on the other side of life-like a cop who is fond of a guy who he knows is a pickpocket. Her name is Kay ____. A lady who knows the crooked score at GCM, takes the money and somehow maintains her soul-I don't know for how long.

The career search niche is a racket. Out of work? Go the libray, start cold calling companies you might want to work for. Hire a top notch resume writer who does only that, for a living. Get off your half-moons but trust no one in this field.
