I ordered a sample of tea from Global Tea Direct (which I fund out later was the same as Seattle Coffee Direct, which ripped me off a month or so ago) agreeing to pay $2.00 for two 'sample' bags of tea, two tea mugs and a 'free gift' of a tea infuser. The program I agreed to was a shipment of tea TWICE a Month.

The original agreement was made on July 20. I had not even received my 'sample' order when my CC was charged with a $38.95 charge on July 25, then again for $38.95 on July 29, and yet again for $38.95 on August 1. I checked my card statement online today and find that there is a pending charge for $38.95 which was placed on August 4.

Here it is August 5, and I received the first of the packages today. I have not called the company to cancel this mess yet, as the delivery was made too late in the day for me to call the East Coast between 10 AM and 6 PM.

A month or so ago, I took a deal from Seattle Coffee Direct via the internet. The very same thing happened with them. I agreed to the "The World's Finest Coffee Roasts Order Now and Get 5 for $5" which turned out to be $5 each for 5 items - two bags of coffee, two coffee mugs and a travel mug. So instead of $5, the original charge was $25, also supposed to be TWICE a month. A few days after the original transaction, my card was charged for FOURTY something $ for a second shipment, before I had a chance to evaluate the first and determine whether or not to continue the program. A couple of days later, another shipment arrived along with another $4x.xx charge to my card. I called the company and was told the shipments were to be done TWICE a WEEK!! I then canceled the program and was told to refuse or return the shipments received and those on the way. I returned all the shipments, except the original order, unopened via UPS as they had been shipped to me by UPS.

The person I spoke with was difficult to understand and I doubted his ability to understand English. A few weeks later, not having gotten credited for the returns, I called and spoke with a woman. She told me they had received the returns, but had not had time to process the refunds and they would be refunded within a week. Not believing this to be a rip-off, I didn't document the dates of my calls.

The charges for the coffee were made to my card in June, it is now August and I still have not received the credits. Now, the same scenario is going on with the tea!
