My girlfriend was looking to join a gym that was located both in Calgary and Kelowna because we are moving there within 6 months. She found Golds Gym and went in to meet with a person regarding a contract. They told her that there is a Golds Gym in Kelowna and told her she would be receiving free trainer hours for 6 months if she signed a 3 year agreement. So she did and when she got home she finds out that the gym in Kelowna was actually sold almost a year ago and the gentleman was either ill informed or was just trying to close out a sale.

well she signed up for the gym at christmas time and everytime she tried calling to speak with the "Manager" she was never there. January came and i finally went in to meet with the lady personally so she could stop avoiding my phone calls. My girlfriends contracts were all signed electronically and her name was spelt incorrectly throughout which would make the contract void in my eyes consider her name was wrong on it.

I spoke with the lady who claimed she was the director of operations and she told me i was pretty much out of luck. we were passed the 3 days to cancel a membership and i guess we should of done better research. After arguing with her for about an hour she finally agreed to change my girlfriends 3 year contract to a month to month contract which in turn we could cancel and she said she would waive the cancelation fee because of the information that we were told.

So i wrote up a letter saying we were done with the gym and instead of allowing me to hand it to her directly she made me go down to the shoppers drug mart in the mall and made me mail the letter to her. This was strange and she was just doing in order to make me frustrated and forget the whole ordeal. But i went and mailed that letter, and i thought everything was good... however my girlfriend jsut got her visa bill and they took $200 for a cancelation fee as well as they also took her monthly payment for that month and they now refuse to talk to us.

This gym is a joke and i have had issues with them before, i have also noticed that the franchise owners of every gym in Canada all have the same last name... the exact name as the director of operations that wouldnt help me at all and actually told me to go see a lawyer if i wanted anything from her.

This gym is poorly run and the "director of operations" on her business card has B.Comm... any director of operations i have seen has more accreditions and isnt 20-25 years old... if anyone can help i would love that.
