My 86-year-old mother was moving from Lebanon PA to an apartment five minutes away.  We selected Twin Van Lines based on the local number and the reviews.  After receiving a quote for $625 for 3 hours of moving plus travel distance.  We were told that they would be at the house between 8AM and 9AM.  We drove from our house in VA to be there at 8.  Twin Van Lines showed up at ELEVEN AM without calling us.  We had to call them twice.  After having arrived, one of the movers began explaining to us in Spanish/Very broken English that we have to sign a contract.  He did not explain anything about additional fees and we were obviously in a hurry to go on with the move.
When they were done with this, they drove the truck to the apartment while we were cleaning the house after they left.  My sister who was at the apartment called us alarmingly stating that they REFUSED to remove my 86-year-old mothers items/furniture from the truck until after we had paid.
This is exactly what he have read on the internet about some BAD moving companies.
The moving of the items from her house to the apartment took LESS THAN ONE hour YET they wanted us to pay $750 instead of $625 PLUS $530 for boxes & rap & tapes that were not even used.
I talked to Oscar, from the headquarters and he said he would take care of this and that he would make sure that we are happy.  Then my husband talked to him and he had said that he would give us one hour back because they only spent two hours there while the MINIMUM to pay was three hours.  He wanted us to count all the items/boxes/packages that were used but we had no way to check anything.  After they departed, they left a huge mess for us to clean up and did not even remove any of the boxes.  We had experience with JK Movers from VA when my daughter moved and they were superb.  They didnt charge for extra boxes/items, they actually showed up on time, packaged everything, and the quote was what we paid.  And we paid AFTER instead of BEFORE like with Twin Vans.  This is why we did not expect to be treated like this by this lowly, deceitful company.  We ARE GOING to make sure that NONE of our friends or relatives EVER use Twin Van Linesand if you care reading this and you care about your family and friends, then you will never use them either!
Twin Van Lines: You tried to take advantage of an 86-year-old lady and rob her of as much money as you possibly could.  SHAME ON YOU.
P.S. DO NOT TRUST LOCALNUMBERS that are given for the local area because they transfer you to other states.  717 PA is actually located in Rockville, Maryland.
