My wife and I moved from Calgary to Toronto in October of 2011.  We did a lot of research online to find an affordable but trustworthy company to do our move for us.  We came across Good Ol Boys Moving, and found the sales person (John Clelland) to be helpful and professional.  He quoted us $5,600 for the move based on an over the phone quote.  We compared with other companies and found this was competitive.  We also like the fact that Good Ol Boys assured us that they would load, transport, and deliver our furniture in one truck with the same people from start to finish....this was not at all the case.

The did no site inspection, but assured us that they do this all the time and can easily provide an accurate quote based on your description of your furniture.  When the movers came to pick up the furniture on September 22nd, they arrived almost 6 hours late, and didn't bring a big enough truck.  They bumped and damaged walls and railings of the house we were moving out of, so much so that the landlord charged us almost $2,000 for the repairs.

Once the truck had been loaded, they informed us that the cost of the move would actually be $9,600 and that it would arrive in Toronto on October 12th.  We immediately called the "head office" to complain, and the same sales person had changed his tune.  He explained that "we had more rooms then originally discussed", and that this was an unforseen added cost.  We couldn't do anything at this point since they had our furnature, so we at least negotiated down to $9,000.

Already feeling pretty ripped off, we waited in Toronto for our furniture to arrive.  We hadn't heard anything from the company for weeks, and left a few messages trying to confirm the delivery date.  By October 17th, we had still not heard from the company and started to get very concerned that we may never see our furniture again.  Finally we got in touch with the distributer who worked for a different company, who informed us that our furniture would now arrive on October 22nd.

On the 22nd, the furniture still did not arrive.  Long story short: we did not receive our furniture until November 1st, almost 3 weeks late.  When it arrived, it was all badly dammaged, and boxes were crushed.  Kitchen ware and glasses were shattered as there had been no effort to take care of the boxes. This was the worst company we have worked with, and I know they have lied and have cheated many other unsuspecting customers out of thousands of dollars in "hidden fees', and damaged posessions.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
