Dear Sirs,

I am not someone who is cheap. It just infuriated me how I was treated from this John V. front desk person, and then the services I was charged for were not even done. If that were my business, and a customer called complaining, I would have been apologetic and offered at least for them to come back for me to fix the problem. I got NOTHING but a bad attitude.

GOODYEAR ADDRESS THIS WAS DONE AT: 678 MONROEVILLE MALL BLVD MONROEVILLE, PA 15146 TELEPHONE 412-373-3005

FRONT DESK PERSON/SALES ASSOCIATE I DEALT WITH: JOHN V. (Employee number 010)
TECHNICIAN: William H. Employee number (067)

I received a coupon for 5 dollars off of an oil change. So, I drive 15 miles away from my house to have this done. I ask when I walk in, "How much for an oil change"? The front counter person named John V. says, $23.99. So, I say, I have a coupon for $5.00 off. So, he gives me the paper to sign for them to do the work, and I wait for about 1.5 hours, and he calls me to the counter to say it's done. I look at the bill and it is $27.27. I say, it should be $18.99 plus tax. I look the paper further. He charged me $3.00 for windshield wiper fluid. I say, "I never asked for windshield wiper fluid", yet you charged me for it. He says, "You signed the paper". I was furious.

You see, because I gave them a $5.00 coupon that THEY SENT ME, they "pad" the loss right back by adding things you don't ask for, hoping you won't read the paperwork you signed to have the oil change done, which I unfortunately did not. I go on to tell him I feel this is incredibly deceptive and that I will never come back. IT GETS BETTER FOLKS!!

I go directly to the car wash to wash my car. Something tells me to look under the hood. Guess what, windshield wiper fluid reservoir is COMPLETELY BONE DRY. Not only did I not authorize having this done knowingly, but had to pay for it, but they NEVER DID IT. I called them back immediately to which I spoke to their manager and told him I was contacting their district manager. He pleaded me to just talk to the front desk clerk, who I agreed to talk to (whom was condescending to begin with when I confronted him in the first place). I asked him for an explanation of why there was no windshield wiper fluid when they charged me for it, and his reply was "I guess it wasn't done". He didn't offer, "Hey, come back in and we'll fill it up or give your money back, just a smart mouthed person". Well, after I am done, it will cost him a lot more than $3.00.

I am contacting my local TV consumer complaint division, contacting their division manager, ripoffreports.org/com and maybe, just maybe I'll get some results. If they are doing this to me, they are doing it to everyone. I realize $3.00 isn't much, but it's the principal. I could have gone 1 block from my house to have this done, but choose them.

#2 Consumer Comment

The math doesn't add up...

You said he quoted $23.99 for an oil change, than charged you $3 for windshield fluid with the total coming to $27.27. It seems like not only did they charge you for a service that they didn't do, but they didn't give you the $5 off to begin with. Maybe my math is screwed up, but it isn't adding up....

It's not cheap to fight $3. Its the principle of the matter. They probably think you won't do anything about it.

If I were you, just to be safe, check your oil levels, and see if it looks new on the dipstick....If they screwed you out of one service, they might do it with another.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

You're going to argue about $3??

I can't believe I'm actually reading an argument about $3. Seriously?

If they forgot to fill your reservoir, you should've gone back and let them fill it up.

Some cars have more expensive oil changes because their filters are more expensive or they take more quarts of oil. Is this what happened?

I'm sure your local consumer reporter will be all over this. I mean, a supposed $3 rip off?? Those just don't come along everyday!!
