Goss Suzuki Bait and Switch Operation Mafison Tennessee

I filled out a generic on-line car application. I was contacted by Monique from Goss Suzuki on Monday. When I got her message, I called her back. She told me I had been approved for a car. I told her that I do not live in Nashville and that I didn't want to waste my time coming to their lot if I wasn't going to be able to get a car. She put her manager on the phone. Her name starts with a C, but I don't remember it. I told her manager I didn't want to waste my time coming up there if I was not going to get a car. She told me I was in their 100% category. I told her I didn't have a co-signer or a down-payment. She said that I didn't need one. I asked her if she could guarantee me that I would be able to drive off the lot with a car. She said yes. She said that they just needed me to come in to discuss payments that would fit my budget. She gave the phone back to Monique to make the appointment.

When I arrived, I was met by a salesman. He introduced himself, but I was under the impression I was there to see Monique. He said he was going to get Monique. He came back with Monique's Manager. She told me Monique was on the phone and this guy was going to be my sales professional. So he pulls out a credit application. I answered his questions. He goes away, then comes back and asks me if I have a co-signer. I said no. I told him that I'd already told Monique and her manager that. He told me that I had to have $2000 down. I told him that I had told Monique and her manager that I didn't have a down payment. I then told him they had guaranteed that I would be able to get a car. He said "O.K. Wait a minute. Let me go over there and talk to them."

So he returns a few minutes later and tells me that I had to have a co- signer or a down payment. My sister asked why they told people that they were 100% approved and then turned them down. He said that they just said that to get people there. If bait and switch is illegal, why do they get away with it?
