Great Expectations (GE) dating service is a huge scam being run by liars and crooks. They charged me $1995.00 for a 1 year membership promising that they only allow quality, well-screened people as members. I asked how many members were in my area. They said they weren't sure but would find out for me. They never did. They told me that I must sign up and pay that day or the membership price would double. I made the huge mistake of signing up. After many mistakes on GE's part, they finally got me access to their website. I found that there were only (2) people in my area. One was a widower who was mourning his decease wife and wouldn't quit talking about her, the other was a pimple-faced young guy with a spiked mohawk.

GE put false information on my profile, they wouldn't let me use my own photos on my profile. The photos GE took were very poorly done. If you don't like your photos, you have to pay extra for a new photo session. I think they take bad photos on purpose. You have to pay extra to have your profile put on their website. I never did get hardcopies of the crummy photos they took.

After searching their "client" website, it became aparent that the quality of members at GE is as common as any run of the mill internet dating website. Complaints about quality and customer service are met not only with indifference but flat out abuse on the part of the staff and managers. They have you're money, you'll never get it back and they will hang up on you.

GE is supposed to mail out cards to inform you if someone is interested to meet you. They never did. In the end, I had 6 dates with 4 different people over the course of my membership. That comes to $332.50 per cheesy date or $498.75 per person I actually met.

I requested that GE do more to matchmake people. One of their reps did and tried to set me up with someone who wanted a big family when I explained to the rep that I wasn't going to be having any more children. When I asked why she had tried to make this match, she responded, "If you don't go along with what I say then you're on your own and I'm not going to help you at all."

To summarize, GE is a huge ripoff that doesn't deliver. They will lie and use whatever sleezy sales pitch to suck you in and get your money. The quality of the people is no different than on the internet. They will lie to you and tell you that all of the people who have complained are just difficult people and you can't please everyone. The Better Business Bureau in my area has 16 complaints about them from the past year. Their staff and managers are abusive. If you consider GE, I would suggest that you turn around and run instead.
