Greater Spokane Construction Mark Andrews Dishonest, Shoddy work, Bullying tactics, Harrassment/Stalking, Extortion, Newman Lake Washington

What a horrible experience with this group.  We had Mark Andrews install a new deck on the back of our house, and allowed them to work while we were at work ourselves.  I came home early one of the days, as Mark was installing the new deck planks.  I looked at the pile of lumber that he supposively purchased and could see immediately that the boards were not new -which is what we paid for.  Mark claimed he purchased the boards from the lumber yard two days prior, and that they were just stowed outside.  I asked him for a receipt, which, to this day he has failed to produce, and he refuses to disclose where he acquired the wood. 

We expressed our dissatisfaction, only to have Mark become to a point of threatening to my wife and I insinuating grave consequences if we push back any further. Prior to the culmination of this situation, Mark was very aggresive with getting his payments,  twice showing up late at night at our door demanding the next check.  He also charged us far more than the original contract amount, claiming that difficulties were encountered constructing the deck, which we are still at a loss with determining:  There were no rocks in the soil when they dug the postholes,  the interfacing to the house went without any problems.  We don't understand why we encountered the extra charges.

We ended up paying Mark the full amount out of fear of what he may do to me or my family -as he knows where we live, but we now need to hire a professional to redo our deck.  We also proceeded to do some research with Labor and Industries -Washington to find that Mark had a prior company (Andrews Maintenance and Restoration) that had its license suspended with 4 lawsuits still pending according to the website.  It looks like a lawsuit was filed recently against Greater Spokane Construction, although it was dismissed.  One can find these postings on the Labor and Industries -Washington website by using the contractor/tradesman verification tool.

We also researched numerous online reviews of Greater Spokane construction, along with those of his previous company to see that customers have experienced similar experiences as us.  In summary, we believe Mark Andrews displays a pattern of underbidding, producing sub-par work, overcharging afterward, and then intimidating or bullying to get his customers to pay out and remain silent about what he provided for them.

In summary, we believe this is a business that should not be holding a license.  We hope this review will protect future customers from being victimized like us, and the others who expressed similar experiences.
