I contacted Greenlight financial services after learning about their incentive program which advertised that they will provide $500 if they cannot beat other loan offers.  They were not able to beat my offer so they promised $500 to me upon receiving my final HOD.  After providing them with the documents, and not having heard back from Jennifer Chang who was my initial contact, I finally reached Steven Rice who is her supervisor.

However, they said that I was too late... they needed closing with my other loan offer to occur within a month from contacting them (I contacted them late January and closed my loan late March with another lender).  This is disappointing.  It seems that they will tell you what you need to hear, then hit you with news that you failed on your part by omitting key details that would disqualify you from their incentives.  Steven told me that I should have a copy of the advertisement in front of me that has those details, but I cannot find it on there, and Jennifer never mentioned this restriction during her correspondents to me.

Moreover, closing refi loans within one month during this financial climate when things tend to drag out is very tough, especially since when I contacted them while everything was still up in the air and when I was looking at different rates from different institutions.  Do not trust their ad.  Do not bother to waste time with the hope that you will get compensated for checking them out.  I wasted numerous hours with e-mails and phone calls with them.

Misleading Complaint-Greenlight Financial Services Uncovers the Truth

AUTHOR: GFS Consumer Affairs - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, April 13, 2012

Leo-Greenlight Financial Services (GFS) prides itself in providing top notch customer service and strives to maintain the highest standards of honesty and integrity when dealing with the public. Our promotion clearly states the terms and conditions of the offer. To be considered for this promotion, receipt of a bona fide Rate Lock Conformation, Good Faith Estimate and a fully completed Uniform Residential Loan Application (1003) disclosing all loan terms from the competing lender must be dated no more than 5 CALENDER DAYS from your tentative approval upon your initial full credit application. These documents must be received no later than 24 hours from initial credit application. Unfortunately, your initial application with GFS was on 1/18/2012 and as you mentioned your loan did not fund with the Final HUD till late March. Therefore, the 3 month gap  disqualified you from the promotion. Interest rates/closing cost go up and down daily and no lender can guarantee pricing for 90 Days+ without the loan being locked. Please contact our Office of Consumer Affairs today so we can address matters in further detail.
