I called in a radio ad advertising for $2,000 grocery giveaway. Being a radio ad, I thought the company was legitimate. The rep said she will mail me $2,000 in coupons for anything I want for $4.00 and change. It is a study for consumer purchasing habits, and the $4.00 is a mailing fee.$4.00 in exchange for $2,000 seems acceptable to me, so I gave her my credit card information. Rep then tried to give me gas vouchers for coupon book to restaurants, which will later turn into monthly payments. I was still feeling good about the $2,000 in free groceries, so I said yes. She later wanted to give me other vouchers. I had to be really firm and say I wanted no future offers.

Feeling scammed, I asked howthe coupon program would work. She said I would get coupons worth $2,000 of which I could use at any grocery store. They are good at any store, so the research company could study my buying habits of purchasing store name brands and retail brands.

A week later, my coupons came. Instructions were to turn in my $10 grocery coupon certificate plus $2.00 processing fee plus 75 cents S&H in exchange for $10 worth of coupons. And I had to send one $10 coupon certificate at a time with $2.00. I went onto the website grocerysavers.com to check out their coupons. A bunch of worthless low dollar coupons on stuff I don't buy. I explicitely told the rep I only buy necessary items like meat, fruits, and vegetables. She repeated that it was good for $2,000 worth of groceries at any grocery store. That was awful misrepresentation without lying.

$1000.00 Grocery giveaway

AUTHOR: MrLister - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 22, 2009

I experienced a very similar experience with ATS Market Research and www.grocerysavers.com. I paid a different amount but still had to sign up for programs that have a monthly payment. This is a complete rip-off and very misleading.
