All who read please heed this warning! Don't Go with Guardian Protection Services. I should have known better but I was going with the company that promised the lowest costs. Unfortunately You Pay For What You Get when you go with the Lowest Bidder and Guardian Protection Services.
I called to have this system installed at my home. I got another company Armed and Ready...They are out of Tennessee I believe and do the installation for Guardian. The Technician came all the way up to my home and we had problems from the Start in May 2011. The prices they quoted were not the same and we went around and around and it ended costing me more (What a surprise) Should have used the three day option out.
They installed a system that was far less than I expected and then just four months into usage I have a problem with a Critical sensor. When I called Guardian for help I'm told well you didn't opt to have the maintainence plan and it will cost me, (GET THIS $80.00 for the first half hour and more for every minute over that Plus parts.) The Sensor wasn't 4 months old, supposedly brand new, but only warranteed for 90 days. What a company.
I don't have a choice so I order the Maintainence call which is $139.00 when all is said and done. The Sensor (brand new in 14 May 2011) is bad on 1 Sep 2011. They replace it for $65.00 just for the Part. Outrageous! It wasn't tampered with or damaged in any way. Just a bad part. I call and Guardian wants nothing to do with it... They blame the installation company Armed and Ready, that does their installing. Guardian only Monitors they tell me now of course.
To make it worse somehow then got me to sign a 5 year contract. Well, Shame on me for signing without better research. But I'm here to tell you DO NOT SIGN anything with GUARDIAN PROTECTION SERVICES... Save yourself. Use ADT. A Better Company and more honorable and backed by my insurance company. I should have used them and now I'm sorry but you don't have to be.
The Technician to make things worse tells my Nephew at the home when they came that the parts are really garbage and break often and he was so inexperienced it took a lot longer than really required if he knew what he was doing...by calling back to his main office. I thought better of a Pennsylvania company. Live and Learn. Well to say the least the system is going to cost me a $150.00 every time their parts fail and I'm stuck. Or am I? I hope you heed this warning.
BEWARE OF GUARDIAN PROTECTION SERVICES and ARMED AND READY. They are not the company I thought they would be!! You have been warned...

I read this first second and third suggestion and offer this!
I didn't obviously read the contract. Based on what I was told I didn't know things were 90day warranties only. Most of the time it is 1 year. I didn't know Guardian uses poor support companies and how it would bite me.
I acted in hast to get my home and things secured and choose the cheapest price but based on the actual real world situation it cost me a lot more! I contacted Guardian Protection Services and they promise a return call and I've never received it or any resolution. My beef is with Guardian. I didn't sign a contract with anyone else. When I buy goods made in China at Walmart I don't call China to get resolution I take it back to Walmart or KMART or Kohls. I get help Support and resolution.
People can read these facts and info and make a choice on who they want to protect their home goods and family. I know who I will not ever recommend and use again. When I decide what to do I'll let you know. I understand why it is a 5 year contract as it makes you feel trapped. This must be that way because of the problems with support and the parent company doesn't suffer for it only the consumer! People you should be wise and read the contract and ask more questions! For those who don't and I realize you will regret it! Jasmine Freedom your recommendation doesn't help as it is a day late and $130.00 plus short!

I have a few suggestions to make regarding this post.
First - You signed a legally binding document. If you did not have time to read it at the time of sale, you do have 3 business days to read it and revoke the agreement if there is any part of it you did not agree to. On this document, it should include information as to what equipment is being installed, how much the equipment (or sale) cost is, and the monthly monitoring fee and what that fee covers. Generally speaking, if the company that is installing or has the equipment to sale to you they should be listed on that document as well (and if not the "parent" company, their relationship should be listed).
Secondly - Most companies offer some form of a maintenance package. Even if your sales representative did not express it, it would have been listed as an option on the document you signed. In addition to that, as a consumer, you have the right to ask questions in order to gain knowledge of the product or service you are purchasing. Have you asked if you can add the maintenance package to your services now? Some places will allow you to add it even after the initial time of sale.
Thirdly - You are stating not to use Guardian Protection Services, even though the majority of your complaints are about the company that sold and services your equipment. Really, you should only be telling potential customer's not to use Armed and Ready. Outside of quoting you the costs for service (which you opted not to get the maintenance package for) - what issues have you had with Guardian? Understandably Guardian is using Armed and Ready as a dealer in your area, but was it a Guardian technician who completed the installation or repairs? I only ask because from this post, I see nothing wrong with Guardian, and only issues with Armed and Ready. Therefore you are slandering the wrong company.
Think about it. That's all I'm saying.
