On Aug 31, My daughter and I went to look at some cars. We came across a tent sale at Gwinnett Place Mall.We decided to stop and see what they were selling. We came across a car that she and I both liked. The salesperson got the key for us and let us test drive it. When we got back he had all the papers ready for us to sign. I signed the papers and then had to wait to see if I was going to be approved due to my credit. They came back saying I needed to show something I just recently paid off my Ford Explorer. So my daughter and I left to go and get the papers.

When we got back we gave them the papers. They came back saying I would have to pay $370 a month. I told them I couldn't pay that much for a 2000 Honda Civic DX. The salesperson went back in to talk to the manager. Shortly after that he came back out and saida bank would finance us at $353 a month. But that they would try on Monday to get another bank to finance us to see if the payment would come down.

At around 8 or 9 PM, they told us to go to the finance department at the Nissan place. The finance department even told us that they would try to get a bank to finance us.

On Sept.3rd they called us and said it didn't look so good. But that they would keep trying.

Two weeks later they called and said they wanted the car back, since there was no bank that would finance us.

I'm writing this report to warn people about how dealerships can lie to you, just to get you to buy a car.

I'm going to tell all my friends, not to shop there for a car. My daughter is going to do the same with her friends.

We are now taking our business else where. Hopefully won't run into the same problem we ran into with GPN.

Be aware with credit problems

AUTHOR: Helping - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Most dealers try to lure you in with good intentions. If you you have credit problems, you should be aware you might not always get the result you are looking for if your credit will not allow them to get the credit for a car loan you want. It's in there best interest to get the loan approved at the bank.

#6 UPDATE Employee

You are upset with the wrong person/business

AUTHOR: The Nissan Man - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 23, 2007

Dear Brenda,

First I apologize about what happened to you! It is an extremely bad feeling to have to bring back a car that you have spent time falling in love with, So I do understand your anger!! But I will say it is a little misguided!

I am a current longterm employee with Gwinnett Place Nissan! I am actually sitting at my desk currently as I type this!

You are upset because the dealer was not able to secure financing for you based off of your credit profile! You are upset that the dealer put you into a car that they could not get you approved for! You are upset beause if we could not get you approved you would have rather not taken the car, right?

Have you ever looked at it in a business standpoint!

The dealer took a risk on you, by allowing you to leave in a vehicle that they did not have an approval on! They in GOOD FAITH (I have seen that word used often in this article) allowed for you to drive their property as they invested time and effort to get you approved even with whatever mistakes you have made in the past! Two weeks worth of work is a VERY SERIOUS effort to HELP YOU! They could have called two days later and told you to bring it back! Two weeks means that they exhausted every possible effort to help you get a vehicle! All this while the car is getting miles added to it and the value is decreasing! But the swallowed it in order to try and help you!

Dealers DO NOT put people in cars for no reason! Dealers try the hardest to make car deals work! If they put you on the road in the vehicle, then they used past experience and reasoning to come to a decision to think that you would get approved! But it is still the banks decision on whether you get approved or not! You should be thankful that you had a free car to drive for 2 weeks instead of being bitter that you didnt get approved! Banks will not always do what they did last week! Their approvals and buy bids change as there business plans and goals change! One week they might be aggressive and approve a deal and next week they wont! The banks make the decision, Not the dealer! If you buy your vehicle on a sat or sunday! Or if you buy your vehicle late at night, then the banks are not open to give us an approval or decline until the next day! The dealer took more risk putting you in the car because they were trying to help you!

There was never a lie told to you! They meant it when they said they would try to find a bank to finance you! In your own statement, you said that the finance dept said the would try to find a bank for you!

So what are you upset about? Your troubled credit is not the fault of the dealer! A customer with a 700 beacon score has never recieved a phone call like that!

Be upset with the bank, be upset with whatever decisions you made in the past, that have caused you to have troubled credit! But you cannot be mad at the dealer for trying to help you and sell a car!!

Please feel free to respond!

I will gladly respond to anyone!!!

car dealers don't let car buyers take cars home before the financing is approved because of good faith.

AUTHOR: Stick Rip-off Report Consumer Advocate - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 16, 2004

Timothy car dealers don't let car buyers take cars home before the financing is approved because of good faith.

They want the car buyers to take the cars home because they do not want the car buyers to continue to shop at other dealerships. Call it taking the car buyer off the market.

If a car buyer did not take the car home before the financing was a done deal, many car buyers might still shop around and get a better deal down the road. Car dealers do not like it when a car buyer gets a better deal from competition. So they let you take the car home and make you THINK it is a done deal.

Think about this for a sec.
If you were in the market to buy a home and you went to a mortgage broker to get a home loan do you think they are going to let you move in a house that you want before the financing is approved? The answer is NO. Car dealers only do it to keep you from shopping around at other dealers until they have a chance at locking you into a deal, good or bad!

As for Brenda having to take the car back because the financing fell apart. Ask Brenda to go purchase a copy of her credit report. Ask Brenda how many different lenders did the car dealer send her credit report to. Ask her how many inquiries she now has on her credit report!

After a car dealer fires a Shot Gun to a car buyers credit report it makes the credit report score lower and makes the car buyer have to wait a long time for all of the inquiries to fall off.

Good Experience

AUTHOR: Timothy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 15, 2004

I recently bought a 2004 Nissan Titan from Gwinnette Place and I found it to be a very pleasant experience. Sure I had to haggle to get the price I was looking for, but in the end I got a better price on my truck than others I have talked to. They also gave me my first service visit free, and detailed the truck before I left.

I really felt that the salesman went out of his way to make sure I got the price I wanted so I could afford the truck I wanted. I originally came in looking for a smaller truck b/c I thought it would be cheaper, but they really accomidated my needs.

The only bad thing I can say is that they took the address off my wifes drivers license instead of the one we told them so all our papers went to the wrong location. That was a pain but understandible.

One bad experience does not always justify putting someone out of business. Most likley you had a bad sales person that was just trying everything to get you into the car you wanted, and get his commission.

Before going to gwinnette place I had alot of shady sales people trying really bad sales tactics to try to get me to say I would buy TODAY, but I just left and took my business with me. I think the most important thing as with any major purchase is to do your homework, and be willing to walk out on the deal if anything seems wrong.

From what was written here it really sounds like they were trying to find anyone who would finance you, and even let you take the car home in good faith. I could see how it would be frustrating to have to bring the car back, but should you really have driven it off the lot without knowing your payment?

Hey Brenda, Your Rip Off Report has caught my watchful eye. Being that I at one time sold cars for a living I completely understand how you feel.

I thought I would take some time and call this dealership. It took about 5 seconds for me to make a decision that I would not or could not recommend this car dealer to anybody on this planet.

Brenda Please make a mental note that I The Great Thorn feel that this car dealer has fired what is called a "Shot Gun" to your credit report. This is not a good thing. If you really want a different car, Please get your financing approved at a local bank or credit union before going to any car dealer.

Brenda before you go the next car dealer of your choice I urge you to go to these web sites and check them all out real good. Ask yourself what do these web sites do for car dealers. Please understand that when you walk on to any car dealer's lot you better know what is going on.
