I chose to go with Harleys to repair my roof from a recent hail storm. The sales representative was very nice and provided an excellent experience. My check came from my insurance company and I was given $20,000 and since it was in my name and Harley's name I signed it and gave it to them on the condition that I would receive $10,000 that would be paid at the completion of the job. They agreed. This was back in October. After three weeks of getting the run around, the office manager Mike kept saying the check was in the mail. Long story short, I still haven't received it. Nor have they installed my roof. It's d**n near May and they've had my money for 8 months. They will not return my calls and when I do get an answer, this Mike character is on the other line or not in the building. They essentially stole $20,000 from me.

I totally understand that the check was both in your name and the company's name. But why on earth would you give them the entire check before the work was even started; let alone completed? Please understand that I feel your pain, but you left yourself open to it by doing what you did. Maybe you could call the insurance company and get some sort of recourse.
