this company is soooo like what the other writer just wrote about this compnay! they are a rip off and are soo rude! they call u at home, work, cell, etc and harrass you any way they can. i have been told they can access all my legal matters through bank accts. anything i own, etc. in speaking with my own personal lawyer he advised me the only thing this lawyers off can do is out a judgement against you. that is if they really do have access to ur acct fo this claim. this office stated they oulled my credit, and knowing they did not just because of the info they told me. they continue to pass me along to another person in the office. when i asked them to send me a letter stating that of whi they were, they sent me one but it never had anyones name on it that i had come in contact with.
i have continued to ask them to stop contacting me and they continue to do so. last conversation with this company i implied that i was having my lawyer contact them, lets see if that keeps them away. if anyone gets a call from them, do not i say do not give them any information. they called me the first time and asked me for my SS#. i never gave them any info and they continue to ask me for any type of things that would help them get to me.

Not Credible?

Apparently Bulldung does not know how some collection agencies work. The poster did not mention what type of debt this was for. It is not uncommon for these Junk Debt Buyers to get debts without a SSN(or through chain of events an incorrect one). The first thing these agenices do is try to find a person with a similar name. Once they find that person they will contact them and try to get a SSN. If they happen to get a SSN from that person when they ask them to "verify it", the next thing that happens is that this debt magically shows up on their credit report. Even though it may not be their debt. It is a lot harder to get something off of your report that is not yours, rather than not getting it put on there to begin with.
I am pretty sure that this is the case here because the poster stated they told them that they had a copy of the credit report, but it was not the correct information.
This person did the RIGHT thing by not disclosing their SSN. In fact you should NEVER give them any information they don't already tell you. The one exception would be your address if you need to have something sent to you.
But what this person did not do is instead of asking them to do certain things, he needs to tell them to do this. The way to do this is to send a Certified Letter with return receipt and request debt validation. Include in that that they are to no longer call you, but all communication is to be through mail.

We all despise debt collection but they provide a useful and lawful purpose. The access to credit which the debtor here obviously enjoyed at some point in the past is contingent on the creditors ability to collect the the debt when the debtor makes an attempt to become a thief by not paying the debt. This debtor alleges the debt collector asked for their SS number which makes me question the honesty of the entirety of the claim. That claim is nonsense any debt collector who contacts a debtor already has that number
