I bought a King size bedroom set, study table and a bunk bed beginning of September, '04. I was told that the bed and table will be available beginning of October and will be delivered as soon as they are available. Early october I called Haynes and was told the furniture will be delivered "next week" and I will be contacted in the week of Oct 7 to schedule a delivery time. No one called. Following week I called Hayes again and was told the furniture will come in first week of November.

I called again first week of November and was told furniture should be here first half of December "but we cannot be sure". At that point I lost patience and realised I had fallen for the 'stringing along' strategy of Hayes. By then I learned a number of my friends also knew about the 'stringing along' deception of Hayes and I knew then that I had indeed fallen for a fairly well known scam of Hayes!. I made one after another 6 calls and for a total wait time on the phone for more than 3 hours to cancel my orders and get a refund. No luck!

Every time after a long wait I will be told the Manager will call me back or the customer service person will call me back and no one called. After the frustration of waiting on the phone, I physically went to the store and talked to Assistant Store Manager to cancel the order. The cancellations were taken care of and she assured me the incomplete pieces of the bedroom set left in my house will be picked up soon. Now its been more than 3 weeks since then and no pick up yet.

I have called them again and waitied on the phone for a long time while a receptionist tried to contact a manager. After a number of attempts she was very apologetic in telling me she is having no luck contacting any of the managers. Well, if a receptionist who answers the phone has no luck finding a Manager in Hayes in store, what luck do we customers have to locate one through the phone and get our complaints addressed?

My advice- Whenver you are in the market for furniture, Hayes is a store to keep away from if you want to keep your sanity through your furniture purchase.
