Heald College Heald took money out of my loan without my permission and would not give it back Stockton, California

Back in 2009, my wife was working at McDonalds, and decided to enroll in a college to get a better job, since I was unable to work do to medical problems. Since I didnt work, and she supported me 100%, I decided to enroll with her to support her, and get a job I could do. I was in a car wreck and broke my back, and now i cant do very much physically, and at the time I was on very strong pain medication.

We both wanted to do the medical assisting program, and I was considering going on to a university after i graduated. After attending there for somewhere around 4 or 5 months, the time came when I realized I couldnt be on pain medication, and learn anything at school at the same time. My grades were getting pretty bad. It was the beginning of the new semester, and my wife and I only attended one day in this semester, when I decided to detox myself at home. I was in bed for almost two weeks, and my wife stayed home with me, and helped me through it.

The first two semesters, everything went fine. But then when the third semester rolled around, everything went to s**t. When my wife and I talked to the financial aid counselor, They wanted a tax return or my three most recent pay stubs. Well I told her since I had gotten in that wreck when I was 14, I had never had a job. Therefore, I had no tax returns, or pay stubs. Then they wanted a tax return from either my mother or father. My mom had died when I was nine, and Ive never known who my father was. So they said they werent going to enroll me, and I would have to start making payments, or get them those tax returns. When I talked to The principal/president or this college, and threatened to sue them for that, they let everything go, and gave me the financial aid.

Very, VERY suspicious..

When we went back to Heald, they said they had dropped us, and I had to pay $1,200, and my wife had to pay $1,450, to be able to start attending again. I was pissed. When I asked them why, they said it's because the goverment didnt pay the financial aid that semester since we were dropped, so Heald took it upon themselves, WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, to pay for the WHOLE semester, and drop me at the same time. When I explained to them that I was detoxing, they wanted a note from a hospital. I told them that I didnt go to a hospital to detox, because that WAYYYY to expensive. They pretty much said oh well.

Since I had only attended the first day of this new semester, they should have never payed for that WHOLE semester, WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, AND drop me at the same time. So even though I got charged for those classes, I wasnt allowed to attend till the next semester, because I was dropped. Then to tell my wife and I that we had to pay $2,650 in total, BEFORE we could attend again, was complete bullshit.

So i told them I wasnt coming back, and after six months they started sending my wife and I bills for the 4 or 5 months we had attended. I called them, and the person I talked to, I explained why I stopped going, and told her there was NO WAY I will EVER pay them one cent. They later had a lawyer send me a letter saying if I didnt make a payment in the next 7 days, they would sue me. Oh well, STILL not gonna pay them.

DO NOT go to this school. They suck at teaching, their diplomas are worth practically nothing to employers, and their ONLY concern is money, money, money. They could care less whether you graduate or not.
