Heartland, Inc. is a telemarketing firm that sells magazines subscriptions. They call me at home and on my cell phone. I also am on the Federal and State Do Not Call List.

I purchased four magazines Oprah, Good Housekeeping, Ladies Home Journal and More. There must be more than one of these types of companies because currently I have two orders from one company and two orders from Heartland. This is definately a scam but I am not sure how to get out of these.

I am receiving magazines for all types that include rock stars, Us, OK, Parents, Ladies Home Journel, Log Homes, Country Homes, Inc, etc. There have only been two orders orginally and then I get sucked into reducing my order but instead it becomes another order. I just want other people not to take these calls. Do not get Sucked In.

I have sent a letter to Heartland concerning the last order. I told the caller that I was not making any additional purchased but before the call was over, I had another order. How did they do this you ask? I was told that I could reduce my payment to $59.90 for the remaining 11 payments that would save me $110. But what the failed to tell me was that my current order was for $39.90. So please do not take calls from anyone selling magazines.

You're not alone

AUTHOR: Kukri - (U.S.A.)

It started several months ago. We started receiving calls from Heartland Inc in regards to our magazine subscriptions (we had and still have subscriptions through another company). Heartland called, claiming to be able to "lower our payments," and that they were working with our real magazine company. This is blatently false. We called our real magazine company, and not only is Heartland not working with them, they had never even HEARD of Heartland! Heartland was doing nothing but fishing for our financial information, as I've gathered they do to everyone else. Do Not give them any information without calling to confirm their story.

We've tried several times to get them to stop calling (ranging from politely asking to out and out cursing), we still hear from them every couple of months. And to top it off, when we told them flat out that we knew Heartland wasn't associated with anyone we did business with, they denied that they had said that, and out and out laughed at us.

For your own sake, please confirm with the real company prior to even answering any calls from heartland (or do what we do, just don't answer the call).
