Last winter during snowmegeddon, I contracted with Henry's Housework to clear ice and snow off of my roof. They sent me a bill for approximately $1,000.00. I thought it was high, but I intended to pay the bill until I discovered that Henry's Housework was charging me double what they charged my neighbor. They say that I agreed to what they charged, which may be true, but I was desperate to get the snow cleared, and at that point I did not know that they were charging me twice what they were charging others.
I offered to settle the bill for what they charged my neighbor, each of the dozens of times they called me. They continued to refuse a settlement and referred my case to a collection agency. I made the same settlement offer to the collection company. Each of the dozen's of times they have called, they say they will look into it and each time a new person is on the other end of the phone and they have no knowledge of previous conversations.
The disputed bill remains unresolved. Despite my endless offers of settlement, their collection agency continues to harass me.
If you decide to work with them, which I would not recommend, ask them for references in your neighborhood and make sure they are not gouging you and charging you double what they charge your neighbors too.

Reality Check

This post is meant for those of you that responded to this "Clients" post, not to the "Client" herself, but I do think it's strange though that she will comment on here, but not pick up the phone and call me so we can discuss this matter in private, instead of raving about it on here.
I appreciate your thoughts and comments on this, I never expected that anyone would comment on this, especially in my companies favor! To be honest, I was very Leary of even posting a response on here to the client because after all, sites like this aren't usually friendly towards the company being complained against. But, I just couldn't sit by and let her damage my companies reputation like this when we didn't do anything wrong, we just did what she hired us to do!
Those of you that posted, already know that I did not "arrange you to post anything". I'm not sure how Internet Savvy this "client" is but I'm pretty sure that this site, like any other review site tracks ISP's to make sure that false reports can't be made like she's suggesting.
We are not harassing her in any way, once she was turned over to collections they are the only ones to contact her unless she happens to call in to our office at 301-216-9675. We have had no contact with her that I know of, in over a year now except for here.
If anyone else would like to share their thoughts on this matter I'd love to hear it, now that I know people do post on this kind of stuff, maybe it will eventually help this person to realize that she should pay us for the work she hired us to do. I also Hope that your comments will help to repair the damage she has done to my companies reputation. I just wish there was a way to remove it for good, is there a way to request remove or do I need to go to court for this situation and ask the judge to have her remove it if we win the case?
I will try to check back on this site once in a while though to post any progress on collecting this debt if anyone is interested. So far I still have not received payment or a phone call from the client regarding her delinquent payment. Late Fees, collection costs and interest, continue to build though and if it goes to court, legal fees will also be added as stated on the invoice.

REAL Customers BEWARE!

It seems that Henry's Housework has done a good job of organizing and possibly coercing its employees, friends, family or others to weigh-in here and write responses. How many of you have been a victim of Henry's Housework or even a customer, for that matter?
I promise you if it happened to you, where you discovered you were charged double for exactly the same service, at exactly the same time, under exactly the same conditions, you would object as strenuously as I have objected. You would consider it a SCAM, just as I do. Sadly, people who agree to scams are no less victims of that scam.
Henry's Housework charged me TWICE what he charged my neighbor for the SAME JOB, on the SAME HOUSE at the SAME TIME. And he brazenly admits to doing so. Had I known that he was charging me DOUBLE what he charged others, of course I would not have hired him. I would never have agreed to being cheated like that. Oh and BTW, he did not prevent damage to my property. So even at half the price, any money spent on his services were a complete waste of money.
I am sick and tired of being cheated and continually harassed by Henry's Housework. I've said all I have to say on this subject, unless or until I am contacted by the company to resolve this issue.
For real customers, I would be very leary of the positive posts here as I suspect that they have been organized by Henry's Housework. Judge for yourself and find another company or plan to pay DOUBLE, your choice.

You have NO room to complain. You NEEDED the help they offered........in an emergency situation....RIGHT NOW. Now you wanna complain about the price? You're the rip off here not the company. PAY THE MAN....stop trying to get something for nothing. You're the one that looks like a jerk....not the company in question

What your neighbor was charged A YEAR AGO is irrelevant to your post.
Henry's did TWICE THE WORK, provided you with EMERGENCY service (your roof was damaged AND leaking!) and clearly explained the costs to you.
You should be grateful that they could service you at all!
Then, they were nice enough to later send you an invoice; assuming that you were honest enough to pay for an honest debt.
I would have made you pay COD - and in hindsight, they should have too!!!
You could have easily called another contractor and gotten a second estimate - but you didn't!
Your offer to pay them what your neighbor paid ONE YEAR AGO is both arrogant and an insult to the company and the workers who busted their butts to save you and your roof - in horrible weather!!!
How ungrateful of you!
If I were Henry, I would have your fanny standing before a judge and YOU would lose the case.
YOU WERE NOT RIPPED OFF. HENRY’S is the company that was ripped off!
Indeed, you should be thanking them for saving your roof and possibly your lives!
PAY UP OR TELL IT TO THE JUDGE!!!

It doesn't matter what Henry's charged anyone else. You were quoted a price and agreed to it. You owe the agreed upon price and can't change it after the fact. I hope Henry's takes you to small claims court. You wouldn't have a s****.>

Henry's Housework admits, "The report says that we charged them twice the amount that their neighbor was charged and that is completely true."This is the only part of Henry's House work rebuttal that is true and is all that a wary customer needs to know. I did not request double the amount of work. The roofs are all the same size and the depth of snow on all the roofs were the same. At no time did they offer to discount the price for less work.I did not complain at the time of billing because it was not until after I received the bill that I discovered that they double-charged me. I complained when I discovered that fact and all Henry's Housework could say about it was that I had agreed to the charge. That agreement was made prior to the knowledge that I was double-charged for the SAME job.The rebuttal says, "If the "Client" would like to contact me, I would be happy to work out an agreement with them like I tried to do in the past for payment..."Henry's Housework, in the dozens of times they and their collection agency have called me, has NEVER tried to work anything out. I have offered to pay them what they changed my neighbor each time and they reject the offer. That's the way every phone call has gone since I discovered I was double-charged.And their thinly veiled threat of a lawsuit adds further insult to injury.

Response

Based on the copies of the contracts, phone records and other information we have on file, this report is not accurate at all. I won't go through the entire report and list the inaccuracies. Instead I will just add our response and stick with the facts so that anyone else that reads this in the future, can make an educated choice and decide for themselves what they want to believe.
The client contacted Henry's Housework for snow removal services and they were quoted a price on the phone for emergency services and for our hourly fees for rooftop snow removal. The client then requested us to perform the job ASAP so a crew was dispatched to the property as promised.
Once on site the customer was again quoted a price and our hourly fees, along with an estimated time of completion. The client then requested us to perform the work immediately to prevent further damages from water leaking into their home.
The report says that we charged them twice the amount that their neighbor was charged and that is completely true. However, the customer requested us to do double the amount of work than the neighbor. At one point during the job the client was told that we had removed the ice dams and cleared enough of the snow to solve the leaking problem they had. But the client decided that they wanted us to continue until we cleared the entire roof of almost 3' of snow. The client was told by the lead technician on site. "Okay, I really don't think you need to have that done, but if you really want us too, we can do that for you. But it's going to take a lot more time and I wanted to try to save you some money." ( I'll also add in here that they guys on this job were probably pretty tired and cold from working all day.) However, all through the job the client knew what our hourly fees were for the job, and as I mentioned we even tried to convince them that they didn't need to have so much work done, the problem had been solved.
Once the work was completed the lead technician gave the customer the invoice and the client said that they would mail out a check that evening. No complaints or questions about the invoice were mentioned and the client said they were satisfied with the job.
At no time during or after the completion of the job, (or over the last year) has the client ever said they were not satisfied with the job, even when we contacted them numerous times to collect payment for the job! Every time they have always stated that they were satisfied with our service and the quality of our work.
The client has been contacted numerous times regarding payment and each time they promised to mail in payment. I have also talked to the client on the phone myself and was
promised payment for the job, but no matter how many times they have
promised it, they just don't pay for it... At one point we offered them a payment plan and the client promised to pay by making payments but once again, they never have.
I am a homeowner also so I understand how expensive maintaining a home can be, my home was damaged from ice dams also. But, if you hire someone to do a job and agree to the price and to have the work done, how fair is it to change your mind about paying for it after the work is done? That's like going to a fine restaurant, having a great meal with an expensive bottle of wine and then being surprised when your expected to pay for it!
To file an inaccurate report on this site and then make slanderous comments about a company that did exactly what they were asked to do, to help this person when they requested it, doesn't make sense to me. On top of that, the job we performed for this person was done over a year before this report was filed!
If the "Client" would like to contact me, I would be happy to work out an agreement with them like I tried to do in the past for payment, as long as this report is removed. If not, we will continue with litigation. I just hate dealing with lawyers and wasting the courts time on stuff like this when they have so many more important things to deal with!
