I recently became a distributor for Herbalife International with the misconception that I would be supported by my upline and told exactly what i needed to to step by step to become as successful as my supervisors say they are. HA!

I went and opened a checking account specifically to open the business management account they require you to have...paid the 59.95 to get my account and toll free number...

(after paying 130.00 for the international business package....and then was left in the dark as to what to do next.

I followed the email I was sent to the letter and discovered that there was so much more to this business in order to get online and start having customers. another 49.

to listen to training information over the phone...(which they neglect to tell you is a must before you beging this endeavor). and several reoccuring charges for various other things that you "need" to have before they allow you to advertise on the web.

I repeatedly emailed the upline and got only to read the index manual (which i had already done) and that I had to complete the various forms to get a virtual business card and submitted that, only to never hear anything about what my link what or who to contact.

when i finally did get someone to give me answers i was told this: " Your Virtual Business Card will be setup and developed as you complete the sequence of events within
the system." which means until i pay out for the unmentioned aspects of this business then i can get an address for my business card that was supposed to be free with my 59.95 sign up.

I also had emailed my "product supervisor" who always seemed to be too busy answering phones and the door to give me anything but the run around.

They advertise as "moms are you tired of your job" but dont dare quit your job if you think you are going to go anywhere with this company based on what they will tell you. I am a single mom with 3kids in low income housing, trying to raise my kids and had a dream to make the money they say can be made...

had I known the expenses up front, I would have never invested the money I did. Anyone with children and in my situation knows that every penny counts...and none of us deserve to be shoved off because of not having a phone or not knowing many people to "get into the business".

As far as Im concerned...Herbalife is a crock of S***

Thank You For being honest Jason...I thought I was the only one in the world that didnt get what to do next.

IT WORKS FOR US....'cause we worked for IT!

AUTHOR: A Roberts - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 27, 2005

Anyway, say what you will (I know you will), but we have profited over $400,000.00 in 3 years with Herbalife. Yes, we bought a $39.00 decision-package. We spent over $4,000.00 to start also. It costs over $39.00 to take our family to see a movie. It costs over $4000.00 to own a boat, motorcycle or "toy" like all our friends who were complaining of being broke owned. It's all about our priorities. It comes down to YOU. Do you have what it takes? Will you make a plan and stick to it? We did, and we are now rich, semi-retired and don't owe a thing to anybody except the power company and phone company - ALL THIS at 36 years of age. In Atlanta,GA this year, I sat less than 30 feet from the aforementioned lady who was awarded "Female Businessperson of the year" from President Bush. Then we went to the Carribean for a week - all-expenses paid!
So hey, don't knock us! This life isn't for everyone! We can't give it awayfor free! As I heard once, "Somebody's got to make the french-fries!" Herbalife is not perfect, I would change a lot of things if I could. But I can't, so I don't come on here whining and crying about it. We just work, get paid and let the problems be problems and just focus on the good stuff. It would do all the critics here some real "good" to lower their blood-pressure for a day and go enjoy something, rather than attack something. Stop wasting your life, if Herbalife doesn't "do it" for you, then fine, be quiet and go find what you love!

Peace, Good and Much Prosperity to you all!

Contact the Company Themselves

AUTHOR: Teri - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 22, 2005

I am currently an active Distributor with Herbalife International and have been for the past 4 years.

I must say, know onw has ever forced me to invest any money into my business that I did not want to invest.

I will keep this simple, if you have a problem with the company, CALL THEM!1-866-866-4744
The company has always worked with me and has the time to answer all of my questions or concerns.

Herbalife is not a typical MLM company. They would not be listed as one of the top 5 companies on the New York Stock Exchange if they were crooked. Also, my upline is nominated as Entreprenuer of the Year 2005 and invited to the White House by President Bush to have a personal interview with him!

I am a simple person living in Sioux Falls, SD and I make a substantial income with Herbalife. I am devoted, dedicated and have a passion for helping people to improve the quality of their life.

There is a difference in the people who join to "get rich quick" versus those who join because the truly want to help others to succeed.
Just like your job, if you don't show up to work you don't get paid.

This is no different. Sam Walton didn't sit back as a distributor of products waiting for his fortune. He worked hard and soon brought his affordable products and ideas and created Wal-Mart. Do your research on the pro's and con's before you invest or cast stones.
A few bad seeds doesn't mean the whole plant is bad.

Steven: Nice try. That's a good little company boy ...

AUTHOR: Mark - (Australia)

POSTED: Sunday, April 20, 2003

Steven, Your response to the lady's concerns are lamentable and patronising. To that lady with 3 kids, Herbalife IS the company she is dealing with. Of course it is their responsibilty to ensure that ALL of their distributors are well trained, professional and diligent in their approach. MLM companies like Herbalife hide behind the fact that there distributors are independent whenever there is a problem. Yet they have no problem using the fact that they have "One million distributors" as a bullshit promotional tool. Cake and eat it too huh! Better take your fat blocker!!! Herbalife don't want to ensure their distributors are trained properly, it would simply cost too much. Instead what little money they do spend is directed toward paying 'speakers' at conventions etc to brainwash distributors into parting with more hard earned. And even then distributors have to pay for tickets most of the time. They sure are good aren't they. Getting people to pay money to be brainwashed into paying more money.] What a croc

Bad managers (uplines) don't make a bad company

AUTHOR: Steven - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, June 12, 2002

First, I agree with other posters - if you're serious, why can't you use your real name and real city?

That aside, there are a couple of key issues. Multi-level marketing has some intrinsic liabilities, the worst of which is that the people in your upline are not necessarily qualified to be training anyone to do anything!

I happen to love the Herbalife products - my son has lost 46 pounds in 6 months and looks and feels great, I've lost 13 pounds (I already looked great :) ). I sell them with confidence and enthusiasm. One of my newest customers lost 10 pounds in one week, and is happier than she's been in years. Whether they work for everyone or not, they certainly work for her.

Getting back to whether Herbalife is a scam or a bad company - "Mom"s points are valid, but they don't reflect on the company, they reflect on the people who recruited her. There's no COMPANY requirement to force new recruits to buy any particular package, web site, toll-free numbers, or anything else. You can become a distributor simply by filling out the application form (which does cost a little bit).

At that point, your success is dependent on a few simple factors: the company (training and marketing materials), the products, your upline, and you.

The company is responsible to provide materials to enable you to sell the products and recruit more distributors. They do.

The company is also responsible to produce products that you can sell. They do (nobody says that have to be good products, just safe and sellable). As I said, I happen to love the products and use them daily.

Your upline is responsible to train you, encourage you, mentor you, guide you, and help you become successful. You, Mom, may have had a bad upline. I have an excellent upline - there's no doubt whatsoever that they are concerned for my success as well as their own. They train me, spend time with me, guide me, help me, and lend me emotional and moral support as needed. Maybe yours didn't. I don't know.

And then there's you. When you buy into a business like this - a home-based, multi-level marketing type of business - it's up to YOU to succeed. If you feel that you were scammed or hyped, I feel badly for you.

But that doesn't make the company a bad company, it just makes your upline a bad upline. At least as far as you are concerned. I don't know who your upline is, nor anyone else in that group.

Condemning the company is unfair. Criticizing them for doing an inadequate job of policing their distributor channel might be appropriate. Did you complain about your organization to Herbalife? You don't mention that, so I'm betting that you didn't.
