I want to make this very clear to prospectve students make sure you know what type of certification you are getting from this school. I called up the corporate headquarters and asked them out right, "Are you an accredited school?" response, "YES" which HTI is, BUT the Program Is NOT. This is a critical difference.

I am speaking of the Surgical Technology program. There are two certifications only ONE is reconized by almost ALL major Med centers/Hospitals as a condition of
employment, that is the LCC-ST Not The NCCT. This was not clearly explained to me and many many other students that attended HTI.

The LCC-ST is the only accepted certification that is reputable!

Be wary, do not make this mistake; a lot of states are making it mandatory for students to get certified and the only way you can take the LCC-ST exam is if you come out of a accredited PROGRAM. High- Tech is not accredited by CAAHEP. They are near $30,000, you get a diploma NOT an AS degree, that is done online after you complete the program if you choose to go that route and you might as well wipe your butt with it, no college will recognize these credits they are not transferable!

Please go to the AST {Association of Surgical Technologists} web site for a list of accredited schools in your state; they have many listed there this is the offical web site and they only list accredited program so you can take the LCC-ST exam www.ast.org or just go to google and punch in AST.

So I and many others have our skills but can do nothing with them because most every job I have looked at requires certification from an accredited program which was not explained to me clearly at all by anyone I was given a sheet of paper listing the two certifications but it never stated important differences in the two. I wish I found the AST web site before finding HTI.

One more thing all the other programs which are listed on AST web sites and accredited are between $1000-$1500 now why is a trade school like HTI near $30,000, no program accrediation and only 320 hours of extern-ship???? The other programs required at least 500 and there classes last a full 8 hours.

PLEASE people do your research!! Look at the AST web site, or other web sites for your particular field MA, X-Ray tech, Dental Tech etc: make sure you are getting all the facts and what type of degree, you will be getting! It's too expensive to take their word as good.

I feel like I have been ripped off!!! In order to sit for the only recognized exam I will have to attend another ST program that is accredited or take an accelarated courses which will cost me another $1500 at least and months of classwork and another extern!!!
