Hollywood Kia Pre-owned car sale deception and fraud Hollywood Florida

My family and I became the proud owners of a reasonably priced pre-owned SUV from Hollywood Kia. Upon explaining to the sales team that my family and I would be leaving the country soon for a deployment abroad, and our requirements for a reliable vehicle, we found a vehicle that was perfect. We purchased the vehicle ‘As Is’ with no implied warranty. When I asked about some type of limited 30 day warranty for piece-of-mind, the sales team offered an extended manufacturer’s warranty option for an additional fee. Prior to concluding the sale, I asked all of the right questions. I asked about the vehicle’s history, accidents, salvages, inspections performed, etc. In addition to affirming that the vehicle had a ‘clean’ history, the sales person continuously referenced the dealer provided CarFax and AutoCheck reports, which also showed that the vehicle was accident free. The sales person also confirmed that all pre-owned vehicles underwent a 150 point inspection by their service department. Approximately 10 days later, on a road trip visiting family prior to our deployment, our SUV suffered a major mechanical failure. Upon having the vehicle towed to the local dealership, I was told that the vehicle suffered a broken motor mount. The motor had literally fallen out. When I asked the service technician if an extended warranty would cover the cost of repair, he clearly explained that extended warranties do not cover accident/crash repair work. He proceeded in explaining that it was obvious that the vehicle had been in a major frontal crash and the reason the motor fell out was because it was improperly fitted. The most devastating news was when the technician outlined that any dealership with a service department that performed a 150 point inspection would have immediately known that the vehicle was involved in a major accident. The obvious conclusion was that we had been blatantly deceived and mislead when we were told that the vehicle had a ‘clean’ history and was accident-free. Furthermore, they offered an extended warranty for a vehicle that they knew to be previously repaired, therefore essentially voiding portions of the warranty. Soon after I was furnished with this newfound information about the vehicle, I called the sales person. He told me that he would check into how the dealership could assist me. Since that call, he has been mysteriously unavailable and has not returned any of my subsequent calls. When I finally had an opportunity to visit the dealership again (upon returning from our road trip), I did speak with a sales manager. My conversation with him was brief, primarily due to the fact that he simply yielded non-helpful, unprofessional statements like; “you should have purchased a new car” & “sorry, but you gotta do what you gotta do”. My greatest comfort is that the vehicle did not suffer such a catastrophic failure while at highway speeds with my family inside. My objective with this brief complaint is simply to offer some insight as to how business is being conducted at the Hollywood Kia dealership. I know from my own experiences that the right information does not always make it to the right people. Unfortunately, as we all know, that type of mismanagement of information can cost people their lives… Hopefully this information makes it way to the correct people so that they can make informed decisions regarding their safety and well-being (both physical and financial).
