I went to the "Official website for the Magic Bullet" -- buythebullet.com to order the magic bullet. They had a two for one offer and though I needed only one, and since there was no option to buy just one, I went ahead and filled in all the information and clicked submit. Instead of a confirmation of the order I was brough to an upsell page to which I had to click countless "no thanks' after :no thanks". When I thought I was finally done with that, I hit submit again and was told that I had failed to clidk one of the attributes on one of their upsells and could go no further until I dis so. Already irritated beyond measure, I abandoned the order, clicked out of their site and went to Walmart's site where I was allowed to purchase just one of the item, free shipping. I also, as is usual in every sale I have ever conducted on the internet, was brought to a page with an overview of the order and, after that a confirmation page. I also received confirmation via email as is the common practice of online shopping protocol.
Two days later, I noticed a charge from my bank from Homeland Housewares! It turns out they were the "buythebulolet" people! When I protested that I never ordered the product but had abandoned the ordering process, had never confirmed the order, the female rep, Tommy, insisted that I had ordered the product before I "Went" to their upsell page. Then, and subsequently to the BBB, this company maintains that I went to their upsell page, as if I had a choice of skipping it. I had to get throught that page inorder to complete the order, as is normal since the order still had to be confirmed.
They refused to refund my money, insisting that it had already been shipped, that I had to call for an RMA number and pay to return the product. That it would take 30 days for a refund.
In their response to my report to the Better Business Bureau these people keep trying to make me the cuplrit, that they are "sorry" I did not know how to "Navigate their website."
The package arrived on the 7th and I refused it. As an aside, the product I ordered from Walmart arrived a week earlier. I will wait to see if I will get my money back. In the meantime, I have filed a dispute with my bank, will file complaints with their advertisers and will take this matter all the way to the Attorney General's office if I have to. This is sleazy, sneaky, shabby, fraudulent business practice. Check out the 30 other complaints on the BBB website before ordering anything from this company.
