I have had my Honda Odyssey for 5 years. I paid for an additional warranty that would cover the vehicle for 100,000 miles or 7 years. In that period of time I have had the transmission replaced 4 times. I was concerned that it would fail me as my one year anniversary is coming up. I called the Honda corporate office and I explained my concern. I was told that my transmission was not covered by an extended warranty if it failed again.

I paid off this vehicle with the intention of keeping it for 10 years. Everyone told me that I could expect it to last at least 250,000 miles. I am so disgusted that I will never recommend a Honda to anyone I know and can't believe that they're getting away with this.

Way too many transmission failures...

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 01, 2006

Honda would not be in business if all of their Odyssey models had as many failures as you have had. So the problem must lie with your vehicle, or you, or else your repairs were only partial patchup repairs....

Did you buy it new? Your post IMPLIES that maybe you did but you were not specific.
Was this vehicle ever in a wreck?
How are you driving it? Towing anything?
Do you hold the vehicle on a steep uphill without using the brakes by reving the engine somewhat which holds the tranny in stall mode and heats it up?

Honda would not be in business if their transmissions failed as often as yours has failed. And a bad transmission should have been replaced the very first time thereby ending your transmission Odyssey.

I have put more than 300,000 miles on a Buick and a Toyota without EVER needing any repair of their automatic transmissions. I have driven a Mazda RX4 Wagon stick 100,000 miles without needing a clutch adjustment.

Something does not sound right with your situation.
