There are two rating categories for Hot Wire and both need apply, the first is by stars and the second is by actual daily rate. Stars as you might imagine can swing in either direction depending on how generous you want to be and so that is a soft measure however, actual book rate is something that is published by the hotel as well as other sites that represent the hotel. This is where the scam comes in, Hot Wire inflates the rate of the hotel well beyond any published rate including the rates reflected on the actual hotel's website and then suggests you got this stellar deal. Could the scam have been simpler?
