hot wire carefull before you lock in your car rental, better off with actual car rental company. Internet

I advise anyone that uses hotwire to do your home work first. Like anyone out there we all look to get the best for our buck.Well sometimes this will make us jump into agreement thinking of nothing can go wrong, that was me. I booked thru hotwire thinking that i got a good deal, that didn't happen. Pay attention to when you check for pricing, you go thru there procedure and give them your email, you get distracted for what ever reason and you go back on the web sight half hour later and find out that the price change to a higher price????. Then you try to call and try to fix in the lowest price you saw a half hour before and all you get is a cold response in not helping you in one bit. Well i should of learned from that but i didn't. so i rented the car on Friday 9/14/12 for the weekend so i could go up to Canada for a wedding. Find out there was a family emergency and cant go , i explained to them my situation, there response was at first that i needed to get permission from them rental place, which i did. i called back and the operator them tells me they only can cancel on the day of pickup, but i would have to have them " alomo car rental" call in to verify, they had no problems in doing that. Very understanding they were. since they were busy they asked me to have hotwire call them at there direct line that they gave me, so here i go again and call hotwire " keep in mind that this is 9/17/12"
my car rental is only for 9/21/12. I get another AGENT AT HOT WIRE and explain to him in what is going on, all i get is, well sir you agreed to rent the car for those date and we do not cancel no matter what your situation is. they then said that the only way they could cancel would be if there was a death in the family and i would still have to give them proof with a  death and acopy of my licence to verify if the death was related. Come on give me a break. I have rented cars before and i never ran into so much BS. Just make sure you are positve you will need to use hot wire . Crooks
