Hotwire is one of those U.S. companies on the internet who invite Canadians to sign up for travel, but will not book them to Cuba. The U.S. has a draconian law which prevents Americans from going to Cuba. But they are operating in Canada and taking Canadians hard earned money but won't book them to Cuba, The Canadian Government has no such law so it would lead Canadians to believe that Hotwaire, Travelocity, Expedia, and other American travel agencies are operating in Canada under false pretences. I would suggest to all Canadians (and Americans for that matter) to boycott these agencies, especially Hotwaire who will lie to you and ask you for further information when you attempt to book to Cuba. The one aim of this company is to suck money from Canadians without offering them a service to which they are entitled. Any CANADIAN based travel agency will be happy to book you to Cuba.

Well, Frank/Francois, this "arrogant American" accomplished his goal of getting you to show your true colors,,,ie hating Americans..

Sure glad you've posted your "last word" on the subject so we're not treated with further drivel from you.  Have a nice day and I kind of like...MOST Canadians..you could be the exception.  Too bad we won't hear back on whether or not you're French.  Canada has the French and the U.S. has the Mexican. I think Canada may have got the short end.

I give up

AUTHOR: Frank - ()

POSTED: Sunday, February 02, 2014

You're obviously another arrogant American with your name calling and remarks with anti-French overtones filled with ignorance and knowing nothing about Canadians. You're the very reason I didn't want to get into a pissing match with people who think Canadians (presumably French Canadians) just fell off a turnip truck. This is my last word on the subject. You show nothing but ignorance and childish behaviour as most people who have nothing better to do than surf the net looking for an anonymous fight with no intention of addressing the issue at hand. The internet is full of people like you. Your childish remarks will be filed in the big round file. I'll say this. You've got a lot of nerve calling me names. But just wrap yourself in the flag and call it free speech.

One has to wonder if Canada is aware that

AUTHOR: Ken - ()

How DO they manage to pull that off?

"Expedia, and other American travel agencies are operating in Canada under false pretences."

The Canadian government must be VERY lax in their control of foreign companys operating within their borders.

You sound like a bad tempered little boy who got his hand slapped.  You aren't French are you, Francois?

Petitions

AUTHOR: Frank - ()

POSTED: Sunday, February 02, 2014

You are a typical arrogant American who prefers to take cheap shots at Canada or Canadians while lowering yourself to Beiber's 12 year old mentality. Canadians don't really care about your opinion of Justin Beiber or your penchant for using this website to further your views on something you know nothing about. If I may, I have no intention of starting a petition on this subject, and I have no intention of getting into a pissing match with another 12 year old mentality. I used the word "boycott", not petition. And, on sober second thought, it's only Canadians who should boycott these American travel companies. Americans aren't allowed to go to Cuba anyway. Most Americans who want to go to Cuba travel through Canada anyway. And, they use Canadian travel agencies. Finally, if the U.S. doesn't want Beiber, deport him. And, when you grow up, you can comment on the real issues.

Wow..what perfect timing...

This post couldn't have come at a better time, it is almost like it was planned.

I think you are right, any company(or person) that operates under "False Pretenses" should be required to leave.  Perhaps you should talk to Justin Beiber about that and see what his thoughts are.   You may even want to start an on-line petition, and when your petition hits over 100K signatures like the one to deport Justin Beiber has..then we can talk.

Doh!

Your rebuttal shows a complete mis understanding of how U.S. companies operate. They operate in Canada but they do it under American law. How would you like it if a Canadian travel agenciy was operating in the U.S. and wouldn't book Americans to a certain country because of some draconian Canadian law. You didn't get the message. Canada is a sovereign country and Canaduians don't appreciate American companies operating in this country and are not prepared to serve Canadians. Indeed I will use Canadian travel agencies. But I will continue to demand that the Canadian Government remove any license that Travelocity and the others may have to operate in MY country.

Uh NO!

I am not boycotting a company because someone in Canada can't book a trip to Cuba!  You stated you can use a Canadian travel agency to do book your trip, OK great, then do it. Problem solved.
