I mailed a payment to Orchard Bank on Friday, December 2nd. I mailed it to their OVERNIGHT address on their website so that I could have it applied quickly and use the card for Christmas shopping.
On Tuesday the 6th, I called and asked them about my payment becuase it was not showing yet. I told them that I mailed it to their overnight address. I was assured that the payment would be applied within two days.
Friday the 8th I called back, it still was not showing up, I was informed that mailing to the overnight address takes longer to apply because they have to manually enter it instead of having it done automatically. (WHAT!!!!!) I told them that that was ridiculus, if they are going to have an overnight address, they should be applying the payments quicker. He told me to wait till Monday the 10 and that it would show up by then.
Well, Thursday morning the 16th, I got an email stating the my payment had finanlly been reiceved and applied on the 15th. I went online to verfiy my balance. It told me that yes, the payment was applied but that I still had NO AVAIABLE credit. I was quit upset. I called and a rude lady told me that sometimes they put the accounts onhold for a couple of days, just randomly, to make sure the oaymetn clears (the check I sent was from an Escrow lawyer, I am sure it cleared.) This had never happened before, I told her. She said that she couldn't tell me when it would be released until today (the 17th) and to call back.
I called this morning just to be told that it would be on hold for FIVE more busienss days. - What the heck is up with that, I asked. he told me that is was just random, nothing personal.
How can they get away with doing this? The check was only $240. They have never done it to me before? Up until now I have had no problems with them. If it does take till Christmas Eve to allow me to use my card, it will have been THREE WEEKS and one day since I sent in my payment.
