HSBC Mortgage Services ripoff inflated payoff amount can't get it corrected!! Brandon Florida

My home equity loan was sold to these weasels. When I requested a payoff figure, they added a prepayment penalty of over $2,300!! My loan does have a prepayment penalty and it is one percent of the amount financed, which in this case is $529.00. One percent is a real easy amount to calculate. A third grader could read and understand my mortgage note.

I naively thought they would fix the error right away when I called.....then the nightmare began. Its only been a week, but I have gotten nowhere, despite my calm, professional and consistent requests, documentation of the error, etc. They even told me they sent back my payoff, because I didn't include their fraudulent penalty amount.

Then I went online and found out that I am not unique. I don't understand how they get away with it. Obviously they do. My payments have never been late, I have never called them before, etc. and now they are charging me a made up huge fee that is not in my note and I can't get anyone to correct it or even explain it.

The people on the phone are advised to lie in order to get the caller to go away. They put you on hold, come back and repeat what ever BS the manager just told them to say. I'm sure those employees are treated like slaves. What a crappy job, lying to people when you know they need your 'customer service'. Doing unto others what you would never want done to you. Shame - they really don't care. If I did that kind of stuff, I'd get fired - at HSBC, its business as usual - I bet if you're honest and ethical you get fired there.

I guess they think I'll just pay it to get rid of them. I bet they get away with it all the time. Sure sounds like it. If they don't get you through their predatory lending practices, they buy up loans and victimize more homeowners. Complain to the government and regulatory agencies? I have about a week to get this resolved before it starts getting really ugly. HSBC sucks!
