I knew this site from somebody inside IIB. I am still an IIB associate.

One good example of IIB practice is the number of Associates showed the homepage of their website (5000). It looks like this is the current number of Associates working within the network. Not at all, this is the number of people who have belonged once to IIB, including the retired ones, those who left, even those who unfortunately passed away. The right number you find when adding all the associates on the Intranet is less than 3000.

IIB is definitely an organization led by non honest persons.

Of course they are very efficient at marketing, selling their RBS (one week training period), even promising the guarantee of a minimum invoicing. Everything is smoke and mirror. The minimum guarantee is just dishonest (you will be told that you do not comply with it for any reason and just taken out of it after a few months).

The free appointments supplied by IIB are just astonishing, people not showing up, people not knowing who you are and why you are coming, others not in a position to make any decision, I was even supposed to have one with somebody who had retired 2 years before.
The network has turned out (at least outside England) absolutely inefficient, you have to read thousands of irrelevant e-mails to find one or 2 per year you are in a position to answer to.

IIB in order to look dynamic, does not allow choosing relevant criteria for selecting the addressees so every e-mail is sent to everybody, and you will have for example, a house to sell in Spain, somebody looking for a second hand computer or a person looking for an HR specialist in Australia or South Africa.

I have sent about 20 mass e-mails in order to find some business opportunities for my clients with no result.
IIB leaders are very clever, and when an associate criticizes them, a network of IIB friends are in charge of answering and furiously saying how happy they are with IIB, and why the author of the critic is one example of unsuccessful, bitter and incompetent person.

To sum it up, IIB is a skilful selling process based on the illusion they sell to mature persons that they can build a successful consulting business within the IIB network, a training method (called RBS) which does not work, and basic and inefficient mailing facilities, IIB is controlled and managed by a Group of persons taking advantage of the systems which many associates that pay, come and leave such as myself. From the operational point of view IIB is emptiness probably for the majority of his members.

I advise to stay out of it.

Sour grapes from a failure..........

AUTHOR: Ian Thomas - (United Kingdom)

POSTED: Friday, March 06, 2009

It is easy to blame everone else when things go wrong.

Indeed this report shows numerous inaccuracies and indeed is slanderous against those who have built up a unique an dynamic network.

Of course there are people who fail in the IIB. But there are many who have used the system to great advantage.

Those who attend the course, then expect the world to come running to them are sadly misguided.

The IIB is a FIRST CLASS network, as witnessed by the many who use it to their advantage daily.

If you cant stand the heat .............. you know the rest.

Isn't it amazing how the people who don't make it always blame somebody or something else!

I have been a senior director in business for many years in a sales and marketing capacity and joined the IIB in December 2008.

Having been involved in "hard" sales organisations, the IIB uses anything but "hard" selling tactics and do very little marketing, they simply don't have to because what it offers business consutants is excellent value for money, and it has delivered exactly what it "sold" and promised me. The training course was excellent, and the many other associates I have now met in the main have been impressive, long standing Associates who have very successful businesses because of the IIB.

Almost 3 months since becoming an Accredited Associate, I now have clients and have used the network successfully to introduce other specialist skilled associates into my clients to genuinely help them. It has worked very well and the support that I have received from the regional groups, my mentor, webinars and conference calls etc has been first class.

Of course it has been hard work, stangely enough I didn't expect it to be anything but hard work or for it to be handed to me on a plate!! That was not what the IIB promised me either, nor did they promise me vast earnings, although it did offer us all a "guarantee" for the first year if we wanted to take it. Being intelligent, I realised that was down to me, my skills and my efforts. I have followed the instructions/training I received on the course and subsequently, and it does works.

Interestingly the only complaints I have heard is from the Associates who are not successful, and that is nothing whatsoever to do with the IIB, it is purely to do with them, their efforts and skill levels! All the support is there from the IIB.

As for the Mass Mail Diego refers to, so far I have used it once for a potential client and had at least 8 relevant responses which will result in business for my client. The Mass Mail is a fantastic facility, of course a lot of it is easily deleted because it has no particular relevance to me, but I have picked up such a lot of useful information and contacts from this source. It is a mine of information and has also given me a lot of ideas to speak to potential clients about.

The IIB is anything but a "Rip Off", it is a very professional accreditation body offering excellent support to it's members and I am very pleased indeed that I joined them.

Wake up and smell the coffee

If you want to develop your own business delivering advice in some form then you need a network of contacts -at least if you want to do something more than just survive by delivering some of your own time. Well, guess what - that is what the IIB does best - it allows you to tap into a broad range of skills across the world.

I joined IIB back in 2002 about 6 months after going it alone and setting up my own business development practice. I quickly realised that I needed a network to tap into if I was to deliver what I could see SMEs needed. The IIB delivered that to me - and as an added bonus it brought me additional work opportunities too. I have never been involved in the recruitment of new members. If anyone calls me (and they do from time to time) I just give them honest advice - some join and some don't. I'm very happy to pay the small annual fee to remain in the network and my investment (the initial cost and annual fee) has been rewarded many times.

There are some great people in the IIB - and quite a few duff ones as well... But that is business - the skill in any business is weeding out the weaknesses and building on the strengths.

If you have the desire to build something and not expect it all handed to you on a plate then the IIB can certainly work for you. But if you expect it to be your saviour because you are suddenly out of work and need a "corporate prop" then forget it - you will quickly join the vocal crowd of disenchanted that are all too common in this world.

To make the IIB investment work you need the ability to get out and develop your OWN business. You need to be able to sell and deliver your skills and project manage others. You need the wherewithal to understand how to understand and then deliver what a client needs and manage the process of delivering that. But isn't that what good BUSINESS people do?

The IIB is not for everyone - but if you are a BUSINESS person then wake up and smell the coffee - the IIB is a business - don't kid yourself that it's anything else - it has strenths and weaknesses. So whatever your own situation do your due diligence and be HONEST with yourself - are you really cut out to develop your OWN business. If the answer is YES, then the IIB can form a valuable part of that - you have to decide if that is worth the investment.

The IIB network has delivered to my company (now a small group of advisers that work together) another channel of business opportunities (certainly not the only channel mind you - you have to work on multiple channel just like any other business) and more importantly some very talented people from around the world that I have been able to bring to my delighted SME clients and who have really enabled those clients to develop their businesses in a way they did not think was possible.

As for companies using our services, well they are buying into the business adviser - like anything else they buy, some advisers will be good and some not, IIB or not. I've met many an SME that has made a mistake in what they have bought - poor business advisers are just another on that list. But therein lies another opportunity...

If you are thinking about whether IIB is right for you as an adviser, be honest with yourself - have you got the drive to do it without IIB - if yes, then IIB can certainly offer you something valuble if you are capable of taking advantage of it to help you make the most of opportunities you will be presented with - assuming you are capable of spotting them; if no then put the wishful thinking away and work on getting a salaried position because that is where you will most likely end up.

If you are a company thinking of employing a business adviser in some capacity, then forget about IIB as such, and talk to the business adviser and do your due diligence on them because that is who you are contracting with - can they REALLY help you and why? A good adviser who is also part of IIB will not "sell" you IIB, they will help you get to grips with what you need to do as a business to move forward and then they will show you how, with their access to specialist skills (which happen to come from the network), how they will work with you to develop objectives, create strategies and manage the delivery to create a positive return on your investment.

Diago

Presumably, poor Diego still hasn't managed to find a path to commercial success, otherwise he wouldn't have time to write such garbage.
For every one 'Diego' there are 1000 IIB Associates who have a thoroughly good
experience of the Institute, and have generated hugely successful businesses as a result of becoming Accredited Associates, and following the Institute's method of delivering practical advice that works to Small & Medium Size Businesses (SMEs).

One can only deduce that either Diego was incapable of understanding what he was taught be the Institute, or decided to "do things his way" and use a scatter-gun approach to blame anyone but himself for his failure as an Associate of the IIB.
Wise-up Diego, the reason you couldn't make it work is a failing on your part - no one else's.
