After contacting the Illinois Tollway to add funds to my account and was advised after she check to see if there were any violations on my account (which I must say, they do this everytime I call and add funds to my account) I was informed that my account was in collections, much to my surprise.  When I contacted the collections agency, I was informed that my account was delinguent of $11,000+ and the report goes back to 2008.

I was completely baffled, for I have replaced my ipass 3 times since 2008, and for each time, they would not allow me to replace the ipass if there was a fine or violations associated to the account.  Therefore, and each time I have added funds, I was placed on hold while the representative checked for any violations, and if there were any violations, they were immediate paid.  For paying the violations were the only way to receive funds on my ipass.

I am completely sick and have had many sleepless nights, not knowing what to do.  This is completely inaccurate data.  Their database is not accurate and I am torned with trying to get someone to see just how out of date their database is.

Also, I must also add that, there were plenty of times when I went through the toll plaza where there was a cashier, paid for my toll, and after speaking with the representative who informed me of the surprise violations.  She also made me aware of another surprise, that is regardless if I paid at the tollboth, because my ipass was on my license plates, the toll counted it as a violation.  What, that means, that I have paid and now they are attempting to make me pay again.

Please help.  I dont know what to do.

It's the fees and fines!

AUTHOR: Navigater56 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 27, 2013

This woman did NOT incur $11,000 in unpaid tolls. It's the fees and fines. My unpaid tolls were $34.70 and I was sent to collections for a total of $2,064.70. Which included outrageous fines and fees.

Something is not right here. Have you logged into your IPass account to see where they got these charges? It shows you not only plate number but time/date and which toll booth.

$11,000 on tollways fees do not just suddenly appear. Did you co-sign for someone on a car loan? The title and plates would be in your name too and maybe that person is not paying tolls?

#3 Consumer Suggestion

Make them prove every violation with a photo.

AUTHOR: Southern Chemical and Equipment LLC - (USA)

If this ever got into a courtroom, the burden of proof would be on them.

Send them a certified letter, return receipt requested, and demand proof of every single violation. Be specific in your demand that you want to see a time stamped and dated photo of every violation.

When you send this certified letter, be sure to put the certified# in the body of the letter itself, and make a copy for your records.

Have fun with these idiots, and make them spend the time and money to back up that $11,000+ claim.

All Truth has been told

Hello, Thank you for your respond.

Well, I am a single person, and the only person that has every driven my car is myself. I have traded my vehicles and each time has updated my ipass.  I have nothing to hide, nor to hold back any information.

I agree with you regarding the $11,000...keep in mind that the record they indicates goes back to 2008,  in which there were cancelled responders, (which all had the same account).  The responders were cancelled for one was lost, then immediately replaced, then after that the transponder for the new car which was one that goes in the dash, then I cancelled that one to received one that goes on the plates.

Once again, I must state, whenever, and if ever there were a missed toll or violation, it was paid.  I am truly an consumer who is looking for assistance.  I am not trying by no means, to lie to bring invalid information, for I know that by doing this, it is not ethical nor will I be comfortable with asking for assistance.

Susan, I greatly appreciate your respond to my concerns, and actually, at this point I am reaching out to as many as I can to get assistance.  I understand that you find it very had to believe, Just as I did when I made the attempt to add funds to my ipass, which I do often.  I know that this world is full of people who dont tell the truth or hold back info asking for help, when they know that have produce invalid data.  Well, unfortunately, I am not one of them.  I am a person of high morals, values, and respect, and I treat everyone with the same regards.

Wondering

AUTHOR: Susan - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, October 17, 2011

Have you logged into the IPass site to see what plates are on your account? AND you can see toll records.

Small point, there are cameras, 4 plates are tied to my one IPass box that hasn't had a battery in it for at least 5 years.

I really doubt you are telling the full story here.  $11,000 is a heck of a lot of tolls and not paying.
