I attended school at the Indiana wesleyanFort Wayne LEAP branch from May 2009 to October 2009. After having a bad experience with Indiana Wesleyan's Business Information Systems coursedue to the fact that I did not have the required prerquesites I dropped out of the school. In January of 2010 I got a call from a person in the LEAP accounting department stating that I owed the school nearly four thousand dollars. I asked to have the documents sent to showing that I owed that money. I also informed them that I couldn't pay the full amount at that time. I offered to pay the bill in full come March 2010. The individual informed me that they would check with their supervisor and contact methe next day to let me know what the decision would be and also instruct me in how I could return an unopened book that I still had. That individual never called me back to conclude our conversation. I assumed the University had made an accounting mistake and had dropped the matter.Four months later I received a letter stating I had refused to reconcile the debt and I would be sent to collections unless I paid immediately. This was not the first time I was forgotten when dealing with an employee from the University. During my course work I realized that the course I was enrolled in was to advanced for me and I did not have the prerequisites to be enrolled. I contacted my advisor Allison Toren who told there where no prerequisites and to get a tutor. I then failed the course and became frustrated. I thendroppedout ofthe school, because I felt all I was to the school was a check and how I did in the coursesdidn't really matter. I told the person in charge of my account Karen Snodgrass all of the events leading up to the current situation. Miss Snodgrass didn't care about customer service or how to best rectify the situation she only cared about the money. I informed Miss Snodgrass that I would pay a portion of the bill that I believed I owed to the University, but would not pay anymore until my concerns would be noted and investigated. Miss Snodgrass did what almost all of the University employees have done to me. Pass the problem to someone else. Miss Snodgrass told me to contact Two to three separate people to start the process of staring an investigation. I then received a letter stating I had been sent to collections and now owed $4300. I called the accounting department and every other department I had been told to and asked everyone I talked to to help me resolve all these issues. No one would help or could help and I was finally directed to send you an email. I then emailed several deans informing them of the situation. They responded informing me that they would investigate immediatly and would get back to me ASAP. Another month went by with no contact from the University. I then got more collections notices and immediatly contacted the school and demanded that someone contact me. The individual that contacted me had no power to deal with the issue and told me that I had to contact someone else. The staff member also informed me that they had charged me double for one class and that they would rectify that problem.I have tried to resolve this and no one at the university has seemed interested in doing so.The biggest joke is that the university website declares'Our dedicated staff strives to meet the financial needs of our customers through open communication and continuing interaction with the student body.'After submiting a dispute of the charges directly to the University they dismissed all the evidence I presented them and could not even contact me personaly. I requested meetings with the people in charge several times and the University refused. They then threatened to send me to collections and left it at that. Three months after they claimed they were going to send me to collection I recieved a cal from their collection agency. The agent said that he had been informed that my "Appeal" had been denied. There was no "Appeal" there was only a demand for professional service. I then asked for all records of the suppossed debt and recieved the University's flawed account ledger that still showed the duplicate charges for the one class. I'm trying to resolve the issue, but I believe a lawsuit will be theonly to solve this. I am in the military and had been led to believe that Indiana Wesleyan helped military members complete the training they already had. The truth is that Indiana Wesleyan entices military members and then puts them in classes that are above their current education level just to collect the tuition.
