Indymac Mortgage BEWARE OF INDYMAC MORTGAGE Kalamazoo Michigan

Everyone beware of Indymac Mortgage, now called One West Bank. Indymac is trying to capitalize on the misfortune of customers. I have 2 mortgages with Indymac and 1 Heloc. I got behind in 2 mortgage payments when my husband died. I asked Indymac for loan modifications on all 3 loans. I received a loan modif. on the Heloc. I sent in a payment for all 3 loans and was never told by Indymac that the loan modification was denied on one of the properties. Indymac placed my money in an "unapplied funds" category and started foreclosure proceedings without telling me. I never received correspondence from them about a foreclosure. I only found out because I called Indymac and finally someone told me one of the properties was slated for sale in 2 weeks. I called the attorney involved and they had not received an correspondence from Indymac about a foreclosure on the property. I managed to borrow money to stop the foreclosure and be placed on a repayment plan. But Indymac placed a large balloon payment at the end of 6 months and told me if I could not pay it to call back and they would reinstatement the repayment plan. They also tacked on thousands of dollars in legal fees, interest, etc. The entire foreclosure could have been averted if Indymac had used the money I sent to them with the sign loan modification agreement but they did not. I still don't know if the money has been applied. I called back only to find out the forebearance and repayment plans are no longer. Each employee tells you something different every time you call.

I am 67 years old, a recent widow, and don't have a lot of experience with mortgages. Some attorney should file a class action suit against Indymac. The federal government and legislators should also get involved because Indymac was given Federal funds but Indymac is not helping their customers.
