I recently decided to try instant-checkmate.  I was given several options for billing including a one month price or yearly price. There was even a $1.00 one time use or was it 24 hours, I can not remember which.

I tried the service out searching a few names (including my own), and found that the fee I paid provided nothing that wasn't available for free on the internet.  However, every step of the way (on a very cumbersome website), it offered more information - of course for more money.

Since I thought I signed up for just one day, I gave up on the service and forgot about it.  That is until this morning when I checked my PayPal account. They had been charging me every month for the last three months. There's no doubt in my mind that somewhere in the fine print there was a notice that they would be billing monthly.  But, it certainly wasn't made clear.

Bottom line the service has little or no value, and in my opinion, they are Cyber thieves masquerading  as a valuable business. Beware do not use this service, and above all else do not give them  your  account, credit or debit information. This is all to reminiscent of how my brother use to get ripped off from comic book come-ons and offers in the 1960's

Had you read everything when your signed up and even on your paypal reciept that you get in email, it was made very clear several times that it is a recurring monthly charge.  IC offers some information, and yes you have to pay for further information and sometimes that information that you paid extra for is worthless. It all depends on the user and what they are looking for. I've been an avid user of IC and have never had a problem, knew exactly what charge was coming and when as well as how often.

You didn't read it and you didn't check your paypal account, nor the reciept from that transaction. Obviously this service isn't giving you the type of information that you are looking for and if you paid attention to the information in front of you then you would of realized that NO, not all of that information is public. Considering what I'm looking for when I search, it has everything I want in one central location.

Your complaining about a company when in truth it is your own fault for not paying attention like most people who just click through to get to the information they want. Pay attention and read what the hell your signing up for.
