Instant Checkmate Not providing what was promised Internet

I needed to find the contact information of a person I knew many years ago.  I was directed to Instant Checkmate and entered the name and state of the person I was searching for.  I found a match on the name and approximate age so I "Continued" to generate a basic report.  Before I was able to view the report, I was hit with the price.  I decided to leave the page but was offered a 5 day trial at $ .95. I am fortunate to have a credit card with CITI bank who offers the ability to generate a Virtual Credit Card that can be set for a single purchase at a set amount, preventing the company from adding any additional charges on at a later time.  I generated a credit card for $1.00 and was able to obtain the report.  

The report displayed the name and age of the person I searched on but didn't include much more.  It did list the address but no phone number.  The information I was really looking for to confirm this was the person I was looking for, the marriage/divorce records, returned "No Records Found", even though the report indicated "This section contains publicly available marriage and divorce records pertaining to the subject of this report."   

I called customer support to inquire why the "publically available records" weren't found and got a story about some states not allowing the information to be obtained.  So why do they advertise they can get this information?  Since I still was within the 5 day trial period, I decided to search on my own name and no marriage record was found for me.  (my wife might have something to say about that).  I tried to search on people I knew were married in 4 other states and was unable to obtain marriage/divorce records in any of the searches. 

I guess I got my $.95 worth but not much more.  I also got to advise the individual that answered my call that I found it insulting when their recording indicated I had to "Press 1 for English".  This is America. English is our language.  Don't ask me to press a number to hear our own language.
