Then, promises cancellation with refund, with email within 1 hour; claims it was sent, but also claims it may take 24 hours; waste of time & frustration speaking to 4 employees who are scripted to lie. Refused to refund $1.99 extra for pdf, because only one refund to per customer. Don't waste your time & money on online promises of public records; go to county courthouse in person, & save the cost & hassle of getting a refund after they have your credit care info. InstantCheckmate.com is one of several websites promising public record info on a person or people you designate, for a subscription price (I selected 1mo. for $22.88), but you must call & cancel because they will automatically renew with your credit card info.  They charged an additional 1-time $1.99 for pdf downloads.  Then, they try so hard to upsell you to Premium Pkg., it's difficult to decline this & continue.  Yes, call me naive for thinking this would work.  My advice is to go to your county courthouse & look up the info yourself, with only a small charge for copies.  The real problem was trying to cancel & get a refund only minutes after failing to get any real info.  When you complain & request a refund, they claim some states do not cooperate with public info requests (like you are supposed to know this).  They don't tell you this upfront, when it could affect your buying decision.  Their disclaimer states only that their info "may not be 100% accurate, complete or up to date," which is not the same as "unavailable on a state-to-state basis" (e.g. California).  The call took 45 min., but I finally extracted the promised refund & cancellation, the refund to take 2-3 business days.  I insisted on email verification & a supervisor promised it within one hour.  Three hours later & no email, I called again--more hassle & claimed that an email could take 24 hours, & might go to Spam file.  I'll try again tomorrow, & let you know.  Maybe my bank can help.
