Tonight I was running a background search for $49.95 that was the entire kitchen sink with instant results. It appeared to good to be true - instant history from all public records. I should have known better. The basis for the misplaced trust is the very nature of the services being provided. You would never believe criminals are hiding behind a background check company, but in this case it appears so.

Here's there new little scam folks. After I paid and clicked the button to get my information, I was given a screen that asked me to contact their 800 number to verify my identity with a code in order to get the report. As soon as I saw this info pop up I knew this company was scamming me. I didn't even have to call their "always open" 800 line to find out that the 800 line was down and there was no system available to submit my code information to get the results.

This clever scam makes it appear they are trying to protect you from credit card fraud. The reality is, they are defrauding you of your $49.00 by making it appear they cannot confirm your I.D. and charging your credit card anyway. The charge, I know already, will appear on my credit card in a few days and I will not be able to obtain the information they claim to be providing as a full scale background check. They use this method to cover up that their records are, as other Ripp-off members have noted, incomplete.

They do this to try and make it look like they are legit, out to protect their customer's credit information. The reality is - I better cancel my credit card now because it's obvious I just handed over my credit card to criminals posing as the good guys.

They don't count on you contacting your credit card company to reverse the charge and that is why they say in their Agreement prior to your payment, that they are not responsible legal proceedings against them or something to that effect.

I should have known - most criminals come from Florida these days. Never again.
